Maybe it looks better in the daytime?
All I see is dark - its night-time in Mexico.

NO wait, I see it now,
its a black bear eating a licorice stick at midnight!

What do you guys think??
I'm not a vulcanologist, nor do I play one on television. I think I would be guessing presumptuously.

A recent report describing some of what's going on. Taken from a website page http://www.sveurop.org/gb/news/news.htm

MEXICO - Popocatepetl volcano

February 6th, 2003

As of 1100 (1700 GMT), the 5th of February, CENAPRED has reported that in the last 24 hours the monitoring system detected a temporary increase in the level of activity. After 18 small exhalations of steam, gas and a little amount of ash, today at 0459 (local), a moderate dome-destruction explosion ejected incandescent debris on the volcano flanks around the crater to a distance estimated as 2 km. Afterwards, the volcano returned to a low level of activity. This morning the volcano appears with a small steam and gas emission toward the East. Due to the presence of the lava dome inside the crater, and the activity reported on January 22, there is a probability of explosive activity, ash emissions, and incandescent material ejections around the crater. Popocatépetl, whose name is the Aztec word for smoking mountain, towers to 5,426 m 70 km SE of México City and is North America's second-highest volcano. Frequent historical eruptions have been recorded since the beginning of the Spanish colonial era. A small eruption on 21 December 1994 ended five decades of quiescence. Since 1996 small lava domes have incrementally been constructed within the summit crater and destroyed by explosive eruptions. Intermittent small-to-moderate gas-and-ash eruptions have continued, occasionally producing ashfall in neighbouring towns and villages. The colour of the volcanic alarm light remains on YELLOW Popocatépetl, whose name is the Aztec word for smoking mountain, towers to 5,426 m 70 km SE of México City and is North America's second-highest volcano. I'll share one of my favorite webcam sites. It is the live cam on the Panama Canal. During the day, they pan it around and look at different ships.
