Racicot got my memo, I see! He is doing a good job, but I missed him with McAwful. He must think I'm a maniac for sending the letter I did and he has defended this position. Sheesh - hanging my head low.

How many brigades does it take to defend Paris?

Why...why thank you! That was very nice of you!

I verify Biden saying that it isn't preemptive, and he did so the day after Powell's testimonial.
I disagree, though, with the view that the administration has not made this point repeatedly. I distinctly recall hearing it from Rummy and Condi in September and October, and it has underpinned the whole methodology the administration has used in approaching the UN.

IMO, Bubba's going for Sec General of the UN, because he wants to rule the world...I never thought of him going for British Prime Minister. SCARY!

Call to national prayer
"It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, and to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in Holy Scripture, and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord."
Abraham Lincoln, March 4, 1865
Abraham Lincoln understood the need for a reliance on God, especially during times of national peril. Our American presidents have a long history of advocating prayer and even fasting and repentance of national sins during times of national jeopardy.

If by this time there is anyone out there that is of sane mind that doesn't think we've made a case for kicking Saddam out, they've got a SEVERE case of ostrich-itis

One constituency Labour Party has voted to stop campaigning for the local elections in May unless the Prime Minister secures a second resolution.
Time for Mr. Blair to change parties !

I've always believed this to be the strongest argument, as well. As much as I hate hearing it come from the mouths of the Dems, there is a reason that Bush hasn't used it himself. If Bush were to lay claim to the right to attack based on the Gulf War I cease fire agreement, he would have opened himself up to some viscious attacks from the left. Imagine the "cleaning up after Daddy" and "using our military to settle an old family fued" arguments from Hillery and gang. It's still the most legally valid and indisputable argument in a loooong list of reasons why we need to take action.
To: RedhairRedhair
Gang-I hate to break this to you but this war is not starting until at least March. Depending on how you define the start of the war, there is quite simply not enough combat power until then to kick this thing off until then.
To: Peach
You have no reason in the world to hang your head low. Your premise was correct for years, and still is in some instances. The RNC Is doing a better and better job all the time.

I appreciate your sharing how you heard about 9/11. It was so traumatic and I've talked about it a few times this year with friends. I do hope that Freepers know I wasn't putting down west coasters or trying to diminish their pain at 9/11. My point was that because it happened in the morning, many of them were asleep and didn't watch it "live", which admittedly only slightly changes one's experience. You are correct - it DID happen to all of us. It's unfortunately some have forgotten already, however, and I think the horrors of that day will be remembered longer by those who live in NYC and Washington. Kindest regards

The notion that a secular thug like Saddam would work with AQ and OBL, Islamic fundamentalists...is really a stretch It is? You find it incredible that these America-hating neighbors would find ways to cooperate?
Do you think nothing of the al qaeda-anthrax coincidence? Now where would al qaeda come up with anthrax? or execute a coordinated attack with someone who possessed high-quality anthrax? Somehow I don't think Osama and the blind cleric pulled that one off on their own.
And did you not listen to Powell's documentary on Al Qaeda-Iraq connections? Al qaeda and Iraq have been in cahoots for years.
What to make of the Iraqi Salman Pak terrorist camp, complete with a practice jetliner?
Mohammad Atta meeting with Iraqi agents in Prague...and later turning up at a pharmacy with chemical burns (anthrax poisoning?) on his hands. And anthrax gets mailed to the husband of Atta's landlord two blocks from his house.
Are you not aware that there numerous lines of evidence tying Iraqi intelligence to the 1993 WTC bombing, the Oklahoma City bombing, and to the anthrax mailings?
Iraq has had its hands in attacks on the US for years.
