Who or what is a Tom Brokaw and why would anyone in the administration tell it/him anything?????

I am worried about getting Saddam. I think he'll be dead but we may not know it for some time (sort of like OBL). And, Saddam has as many as 19 look-alikes and bunkers, etc. It won't be easy, but we will prevail.

"another UN report due Feb. 14th"
Since Germany and France have rendered the UN as officially obsolete with their song and dance, why wait? I think it's popping.

You are correct: phase of the moon doesn't matter much. Nevertheless, "we will rule the night."

Same thing - flipping channels - stopped for a second and saw Novak didn't think Powell made his case. The liberals thought he did. We're all in an alternate universe.

Understood. I do think that whenever we attack, there will probably be attacks against Westerners, in the US and Europe. And those attacks, whether the direct results of any action by Hussein, will bring world opinion to bear on him in a most negative manner, further discrediting him in trying to portray himself in any sort of "victim" role.

I heard one of the military talking heads say the same thing on Fox News today...That we owned the night. We have the best night-vision capabilities anywhere. I know one thing. The President will do it when the time is right - not a moment sooner and not a moment later.

I think you're referring to my post where I mentioned Brokaw said that getting Iraqis away from their handlers revealed the depths of their misery and wish to be freed of Saddam. No one in the administration told him anything. He was in Iraq. I read a transcript on FR of his appearance on the Donahue show and Brokaw's admission that the people of Iraq aren't against our invading their country and setting them free infuriating Donahue. he he

I'm with you - why wait for the UN to do anything. THey've had time since Powell's speech and Blix's report to make a move and haven't made one. They ARE irrelevant.

Should have added - but my husband and others think we'll wait until the 14th to get the last report and I was putting it out there to consider. I think I said in my post I think it's a mistake if we do wait, but what do I know (and when did I know it).

"a. Saddam is getting ready for either a preemptive strike on the Israelis OR he is getting ready to start blowing the wells, then fall back on Baghdad and hunker down. b. We have a lot more regulars in theater than the American people have been led to believe."
I totally agree on both points. I believe that we have, also, been there a lot longer than the American people have been led to believe.
To: condi2008
I agree. I don't think the President would have scheduled a statement at the last minute of the day to say "THE GAME IS OVER" unless...the game was over. He knew Saddam was going to begin a new round of games. He also knows that Blix and Annan will do anything to avoid this war. He probably also knew France and Germany would try to botch things...he pre-empted them all. They may all think he will cave under pressure but he won't. He has made up his mind - and he's a Texan.
