NICOSIA — A North Korean "extremist" has been arrested by authorities at the notorious Ein Hilwe Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon.

The Fatah movement led by Yasser Arafat has arrested two men accused of having planned attacks against U.S. and British targets in Lebanon.

The plot was allegedly led by the North Korean who frequented the Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon which has been the focus of surveillance for suspected members of Al Qaida. Palestinian sources said Fatah agents also arrested a Syrian national suspected of being involved in the planned campaign.

"He [North Korean] is an extremist and has told our interrogators that he intended to wage sabotage operations against American and British interests," a Fatah commander, identified only as Maj. Lino, said. "But it could not be established whether he is affiliated to Osama Bin Laden's Al Qaida or to Israel's Mossad secret service."

Lino said Qaraan was carrying four passports as well as Palestinian travel documents. The passports were issued by Indonesia, Jordan and Lebanon.

Fatah said the arrests took place on Monday and that the suspects were handed over to the Lebanese military on Wednesday. Lebanese authorities did not issue an immediate response to the report.

Western diplomatic sources said Ein Hilwe — with a population of 75,000 — has been a center for Al Qaida operations in Lebanon. About 100 Arab and other nationals are said to belong to the Al Qaida-linked Usbat Al Ansar group in the camp.

What amazes me about this is Yasser's boys were the ones making the arrests . . .

I wonder if Jin Kim Su is related to John Can Su Yu, the senator from NC?

Does this mean there is an actual link between the east and west ends of the Axis of Evil beside a nasty disposition?

Hubby and I have been talking about this. We can't determine if North Korea is in cahoots with Iraq or if they are merely taking advantage of the situation with Iraq. It sure seems as though North Korea is screaming "Over here! Over here!" and is trying to divert Dubya's attention.

They picked the wrong President to play games with, for sure.

It's links are becoming more evident as each day passes.

What everyone fails to forget is . .

The "Middle" Link is in Washington, D.C.

That amazes me too. I though Lebanon was so dominated by Syria that they would roll out the red carpet for terrorists.

But it does raise the mental image of 5 terrorists, 4 of which are arab and 1 of which is Korean, with the caption "which one does not belong?"

The North Korean, identified as Jim Kim Su, was said to have planned attacks on unspecified British and U.S. interests throughout Lebanon in an attempt to stop a U.S.-led war against Iraq.

Exactly what, if any, interests does either country have in Lebanon, let alone interests important enough to stop the war?

I think NK wants to stop an Iraqi war because they fear they will be next.

Yes, the longer they can delay it, the longer they have to stay in power.

That is exactly what my husband and I think. I think they have been in cahoots since before the Axis of Evil speech, I think that is why the connection was made and the title given. I think they will happily launch an attack either on SKorea, Taiwan, or Japan. I hate that we have 35,000 guys sitting there like ducks waiting to be picked off. How big is S.Korea's army?

"How big is S. Koreas army"

About 685,000 troops, compared to 1 million NK troops with another 7 million NK militia in reserve.

"I maintain as I have maintained for a long time that the really big question is what we will do if our supposed allies turn their backs on us (which they will), the North Koreans launch a nuclear strike, al Qieda lets Ebola and Smallpox loose in NYC, DC, Miami and Chicago, and the Chinese decide to sieze the opportunity and attack us."

Believe it or not, this "tin-hat" sci-fi sceanrio is closer to "real-world" than either one of us dare imagine.

The focus here is on "Axis" and just how much concerted effort and resoures are being used between N.K., Iraq, and Muslims already positioned inside the U.S. to pull off a "simultaneous" strike both within, on, and outside the U.S. on American assets and allies.

I hate to say this, but the political strongholds within the U.S. by resisting Bush's war on terror are actually fostering just such a scenario.

No tin hats here - just reality.

God help us while we can still help ourselves.

This is a massivley overwhelming force in conventional terms.

There would be only one response to such an onslaught - nucler.

Oh, my God! From my mouth to the press. I was just saying on another thread that it may be too late to hit Bagdad, as the WMD's are dispersed and with North Korea in the picture, it won't be long until we see other countries and terrorists sympathetic to Sadam Hussein with the means to deliver the chemical and biological stuff. This is a nasty business. The longer we wait, the more dangerous it becomes.
