CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES
Pre recorded updates 917-387-8865
IMPORTANT NOTE: The above number is only a recording, you will not be able to speak to anyone through it. The recording can be updated from any remote location and so it will be updated constantly, as necessary to provide the latest information on where the rally will be held. Because of the recording limit of 20 seconds the information will be up to the point giving the location of where we are throughout the day. The number is to an old pager voicemailbox. The pager has been disabled, please DO NOT leave messages. NO, it will not record your number. NO, it is not toll free from outside NYC. Some people objected to te auto responder e-mail. That has been removed. The other thread was pulled to allow time for the necessary changes.
Dutchy and NYC GOP Chick are the main organizers of the event and are designing additional fliers for the event in addition to the above flier. Firebrand is getting the appropriate permits for the rally and we will not know details of where we will be able to gather until close to the rally date. I AM NOT the organizer of this rally, just giving a hand.
Pings on other ping lists appreciated

The Justice Department was going to file an amicus and the judge said they could do it if they could get it done by close of business today. That seems to have been the deadline. Good thought, though.

Part of the subtext was that the lefties were trying to prove that the NYPD approves "cultural" events but not "political" events Sheesh, if this were the FIRST time they were marching, it might fly, but seems we've been around the block with the unwashed 3 or 4 times already.

Oh, My Gosh...
That would also be the best place for us to rally, though, what do you think??
To: StarFan

Maybe we can challenge the organizers to send a "peace" delegation to the World Trade Center site instead where they can talk about their NION petition and expound on the petition's comparing 9-11 to our freeing Panama of Noriega and our efforts to keep South Vietnam from communist enslavement.

I think their argument was that the current tense worldwide situation was not reason enough to ban all political parades, as they claimed the city had done since 9/11, although Chief Esposito pointed out that this was not a policy, just a defacto situation, as each permit request was considered separately.
They had other arguments as well. It would have been interesting to read the depositions, from the day before, since the hearing went straight into direct examination (and then cross examination), so there was no overview of the arguments. The press may have had it but I was piecing it together.
The city objected to the possible chaos, so of course the protestors tried to prove how experienced their organizer was. They pointed out that even though there was a disruption after the Puerto Rican Day Parade in June of 2000, the city continued to grant permits for this parade.
The police pointed to the Matthew Shepard "Vigil," a march that took place without a permit and so without adequate police protection, and there were injuries, including injuries of police officers.

United for Peace and Justice is now announcing their meeting place as 49th and First Avenue. They will not have word on whether they can march until tomorrow.

Is that Dag Hammerskold?
If the Police wont let us rally across the street from them, Kristinn's idea is good, we should rally at the WTC!! While hea meant for the LEFT to rally there, if the left wants the UN, let US have the WTC rally instead! We will get positive results there, for sure!
To: RaceBannon
Race, will you ping me to the final rally site? FReeping ops will be limited for me this week I think. Thanks and see you Saturday.

Not to sound like an important person, but my calender is currently open that day!
The thing is I get work day-by-day when I call the union hall, a telephonic shape-up. So I may have to miss it if I get a job. I am very low on the list and I can't say no to them otherwise they give you a pass for weeks at a time.
Having said that I can, not call, for a few days prior to the date and I hope I can make it!!

Want everyone to know that I've been faxing out the flyer and have even e-mailed the link with the flyer to several VA groups in the area and I'm getting positive response.
I plan on doing the same starting tommorow to different ROTC groups in the area.
To: KLT
I just answered up to Cacique, I am going to try to be there.
I can afford a few days off now, but I can't say no if the union gives me something. I am too junior to refuse and stay in good graces.
Especially now, since I have actually gotten some good feedback, I have to keep it up so I can get my book!!
