But even they aborted their third child after tests showed it was a girl. Wonderful examples, they.
Indians are wonderful people, but very hypocritical about somethings. They loved lecturing me on American firearm violence, but ignored the all too common "bride-burnings" in India.

Actions such as these have unintended consequences on a micro and macro level. The micro consequences are that young men can't find wives since the girls were killed off (a rather natural consequence of such immoral acts). The macro implications are a bunch of frustrated young men running around with nothing to divert their attention, which often causes trouble for the home government and its neighbors.

Mr Saini is a fierce campaigner against female foeticide. He and his wife have two daughters. But even they aborted their third child after tests showed it was a girl. BBC apparently needs to run IQ checks on its writers. Mr. Saini maybe some sort of campaigner against female feticide (he did, after all, allow his first two daughters to be born), but he sure ain't a "fierce" one. Did he and his wife explain to their two daughters why they wouldn't be having any little sisters?
Dad: "Mom's pregnant so maybe you'll be a getting a little brother! Wouldn't that be nice?"
Daughters: "Yes, and a little sister would be nice too!"
Dad: "Oh no, children. Don't be sily. Although daddy is a wonderfully fierce campaigner against female feticide, I can't possibly be expected to allow THREE girls to be born."
