Raleigh area Freepers, heres your chance to do something for your country. Dont be a FINO (Freeper In Name Only) come out to the rally and show our President and Military that you stand behind them.
These pacifists would like the world to think THEY are the majority. Lets out number them and show them WERE MAD AS HE!! And Were Not Gonna Take It Anymore!
WHERE:
Capital Bldg. Grounds Downtown Raleigh
WHEN:
February 15, Saturday from 12-2
We will begin assembling at 11:30 and stay till it's over.
I have applied for a permit to hold a Patriotic/Support Our Troops rally on the capital grounds in downtown Raleigh. The address is: 1 E. Edenton Street, Raleigh, NC 27699.
Map can be found at: here.
A map of areas to park is available here. If I remember right the parking lots are usually free on the weekends. There is also on street parking available, bring quarters to feed the meters for these.
If you dont live in or near Raleigh there are other organized events for this day in our state. You can find more information about the other NC war protests here.
The peaceniks are saying they will have 10,000 protesters, not likely. Let's show them by having MORE than them.
I will be posting some possible sign ideas within the thread so keep checking back for updated info throughout next week. If anyone has a bullhorn, bring it please.
If you are involved in any local conservative groups or military organizations that would like to come and help us out, spread the word. You don't have to be a FReeper to join in, just a Patriot that loves the USA and wants to see our freedom protected from tyrannical terrorists. E-mail your family and friends and get them to come with you. Call and/or e-mail Jerry Agar so we can get some publicity for this event. Constitution Day and I can't do this alone WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Hi. Sorry I was so long repying. It's been a heck of a week.
We had an incident up here that has absolutely galvanized community support for our service people. About a month ago, a couple of Marines were spit at and called baby-killers by these socialist m%$##$!
In response, Asheville is holding a Support our Soldiers Rally on March 1st. The organizers are not taking a stand on invading Iraq. Instead, it is purely a rally to support our troops. A friend of my husband is helping with the event. So far, they are expecting 15,000 (yep-you read that right) for the prayer vigil. (they've already sold this many tickets to help pay for the auditorium, etc.) A concert with Travis Trit will follow and is expected to be a sell-out at 2,400 people. The concert seats will go to veterans, armed forces and their families first. Here's a link to the story for more info:
http://cgi.citizen-times.com/cgi-bin/story/news/28529
In contrast, the commies are expecting a couple of hundred according to their site.
Madcelt and I can only arrange to go to Asheville for one of these events. Are there any other WNC freepers going to either event, or both? Where do you think we'll be more effective? In short, would you fellow freepers prefer a first hand report and pictures of the Support our Soldiers rally or to join us for a freep of the peaceniks? Either one is fine with us.

Dear Moderator:
Why do you continually allow these kinds of posts to clutter the "Breaking News" section? Wouldn't this be more appropriate under "Announcements"??
Great cause, wrong topic.

Helix...This sounds like a wonderful event.
Looks like you will have a good turnout for support of our troops.

Because we asked them to that's why.
I don't see why you should have a problem with it, if it doesn't pertain to you THEN DON'T OPEN THE THREAD!
Free Republic is about activism and supporting the conservative cause. Showing support for our country, President and Military by organizing these rallys is doing just that.
In case you haven't noticed there are dozens of these Patriotic Rallys all over the country this weekend. We are doing our part to counter-act the anti-war hippies.
What rally will YOU be attending on Sat?

Wait -- I have a very patriotic recipe I want to upload to "breaking news" and "announcements". But why complain? After FREEPing some useless poll on USA Today and finding out about the FR scrap drive in Hammond, Indiana, maybe I'll find that story about Japan threatening to launch a pre-emptive strike against North Korea.
To: Dirk McQuickly; mykdsmom; wimpycat; Admin Moderator
Listen, Dirk.
I ASKED the moderator to bump this up in Breaking News.
Had they considered it "inappropriate", they would not have done so.
Personally, I could hardly consider it MORE appropriate.
Note the "Welcome" statement from the FreeRepublic.com homepage:
"Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web.
We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.
And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!"
I definitely think our rally falls in the underlined category, and obviously the Moderator does too.
If you, with your highly refined sense of what is and is not 'worthy' do not, a simple remedy is in order:
IGNORE IT.
Good day.

Start your own site and you can allow whatever YOU want in breaking news.
If you are that unhappy with what is posted here perhaps you'd be more comfortable hanging out with the evilDUers!

Still doesn't explain why a "breaking news" topic even exists if it's going to be dominated by announcements.
Why have topics if it's not going to be consistent?
To: Dirk McQuickly; Admin Moderator
Ya know, take it up with Jim Robinson and the Admin Moderators who just follow the rules he has put in place.
