Italy school trip was weedy good
ROME (Reuters) - An Italian court has ruled that taking 40 joints of hashish on a school trip is not a crime. The marijuana was for personal use since the 17-year-old student planned to share it with two fellow students and a teacher, the appeals court judge said.
Under Italian law, selling marijuana is a crime, but possession for personal use is not.
"It could easily have been consumed during the many days of the trip," Corriere della Sera daily quoted the court ruling as saying.

Let me predict how this thread will go: A couple of anti-WOD folks, (some dopers, some not) will drop by and post the same things they have already posted on 456,899,080 other pot related threads. Then, some pro-WOD folks will post something about how terrible this is and the people in charge should be charged with child abuse, or whatever. Then a doper will post how pot has no harmful effects whatsoever. An anti-doper will post a study that disputes that. The doper will then find the DEA in the footnotes and say the study is discredited and obviously false. The anti-doper will call the doper a "doper." The doper will call the anti-doper a "statist."
Someone will ping the WOD list. Then the anti-WOD people (the same ones who post on every pot thread) will descend like locusts and post the same things they have posted on every other dope thread since James Polk was President.
They will shout down everyone who disagrees with them. The terms "What's your point?" and "Have a study to back that up?" will be used liberally. Finally, the pro-WOD folks will grow weary of the stridence of the ant-WOD crowd and leave.
The anti-WOD crowd will post a few self-congratulatory notes and then migrate to the next WOD ping which appears like the Bat Signal in their "My Comments" list.
Well done sir, well done.

So I gather this means Italian legal doctrine on drug possession is, in layman's terms: "Son, I hope you brought enough for everybody..."

Wouldn't it be much less expensive to provide each user (and dealer) with a *free* one-way ticket (sorry, not allowed to return) to the country of their choice? You're thinking too small---it's less expensive still to simply end the immoral and irrational War On Some Drugs.

Two monsterous evils at war with one another, both of whom are trampling over our rights and our wallets. How does drug use trample over your rights and your wallet?

"Former long-haired, dope-smoking, drug-abusing, rock-n-roll party animal socialist who saw the Light when Jesus saved my soul and set me free in 1985." So 'skooz', take the constitutional high ground, and explain to us all your wonderful solution! Tell us how we can win this war on drugs, guns, & liberty.
I assumed from that post that you wanted from me some plan for winning the WOD; which presupposes that I am in favor of it.
Large assumption, as it can be read either way, & after reading your 'bit' above, and many of your posts, I never was able to presuppose anything, anyway.
Regardless, your posts merely affirm the point I made in post 3.
Sorry but I missed that point, amidst the cynicism. Try again, and give it your best shot this time.

>>Yeah, and the drug warriors want to kick down her door <<
Now, now. To be a proper WOD thread post, you MUST have hob-nailed boots (or jackboots) when referencing doors being kicked down.

Thank you.
I forgot to add, however, that the particulars of the story will rarely be addressed. Just a bunch of stock, one-size-fits-all phrases from both sides that will fit on virtually any thread.

Try again, and give it your best shot this time. I already shot my wod. (ooohh, an unintended --really--pun)
But, what is it exactly you want me to say? You haven't made that clear.

"C'mon, Skooz, can't you see that tpaine is just dying to call you a statist? Get it over with."
Hey bob, you support the 'states right' to prohibit drugs, guns, whatever, -- you may get called a "statist".
Rightly so, imo.

Jackboots! Jackboots! Of course, I forgot the jackboots.
That just shows these threads are increasingly becoming a parody of themselves.

Oh, simple things like increased health-care costs, tax-funded rehab, paying for welfare for crack babies and their mothers, SSI for those who have used so much for so long that they are no longer able to hold a job. That sort of thing. Not that the WOD is any better.
See? No one is talking about the 17 year-old kid in Italy.

I coached college debate a few years ago -- by the end of the season it ends up being
Aff: Standard Arg 1
Def: Standard Def 1
Aff: Standard Arg 2
Def: Standard Def 2
Aff: Standard Rubuttal 1
etc.
etc.
etc.
There isn't anythung new in the WOD arguments. Once the ammmo (factual data and supporting args) is spent, all that is left is vitrol.
But it is always fun and I like to join the fray from TTT.

And even more often, amusing. ;^)
As they're intended to be perhaps? The WOsD is a laughing stock isn't it?

We laugh but to keep from weeping.

It is possible that someday we can break the mold on these threads if people can stop arguing the merits of the laws and shift the debate to how government attained the authority to enact them in the first place.I'm trying to do just that...
2:1.32 (2 hours, 1 minute, 32 seconds is all the authority that was needed)
