Diplomacy is the art of getting the other guy to do what you want. Usually this requires that you are able to corner him or pursuade him to go along with you, usually you give something of value to move one in your direction.

Today, the world stands united in hopes of cornering the USA. Today, the USA has a military unparrelled in history and it is posed to make a quantum leap in its superiority; the USA's economic might is measured in both consumption and high quality products (the economy is 85% internal and generates enought wealth to purchase 10% of the worlds exports). The USA has political clout unrivaled by even dozens of countries cobbled together to oppose her; the USA can simply state her position and let others take it or leave it. It is rare in the world's history that a single country has had such far reaching influence. All the while, the USA is a model to be emulated when it comes to quality of life, human rights and morality. While no country is Saintly, few can hold a candle to challenge the USA in any area, even collectively in bodies like the UN other countries find themselves in awe of the shear power of this great nation. Even if the world's economy climbs back in productiveness, the world will look to the USA to pull them along, rather than the world hoping to escipsle her.
