CNN just announced that President Bush will speak at 4:30. That's all they said. Didn't sound like it was previously scheduled.

If you ask me (and you didn't), a terrorist incident could happen anywhere in the US. No sense in not spending as much time with your family as you can because you're worried about terrorism. If it happens, it happens. But, the odds are that the biggest threat you will face will be to your waistline (and checkbook).

I vote go forth and enjoy yourself and your family.

All it does is give us carte blanche to go postal on the Iraqis.

Well, I am still putting out hope that someone or a couple of someone's close enough to him take him and sons out. I am sure his military commanders are seeing some opportunity to finally be rid of him and come out on top (or alive).

I agree, Goodman, this looked petty on Bush's part. Like ... Powell received such accolades and stature from his performamce yesterday that Bush had to come out today and grab the spotlight back. Everyone who views Bush as a cowboy, and Powell as the measured statesman, had their biased perceptions reinforced today. I don't get the wisdom of timing or the strategic value of this event.

Not good, but hardly anything that will spell the doom for us......embarrassing for the Brits of course though.

Oldeconomybuyer posted a link to leaflet drops on southern Iraq that seem to be pointing in that direction....

You forgot </ sarcasm>. You can't be serious. Bush has NEVER suffered from spotlightitis. He has more class than that.

He is the definition of leader.

i disagree with that. as i see it, bush and powell saw the way the wind was blowing after powell's speech (more of the same foot dragging from france, russia, et al) and decided it was time to put the hammer down before it had momentum.

Wonder what B.J. Clinton's gonna say tonight on Larry King.

Larry will be asking him how he feels about being chosen as the most admired President by a majority of people in the CNN poll! Gag, choke, spit!!! I just freeped the poll, I hope others do too, ASAP!

Have you ever heard of OPSEC? It's not a subgroup of OPEC, but stands for OPerational SECurity. You don't announce to an enemy the precise time you're going to hit the first target, or what exactly that first target is, not unless you want the folks assigned to hit that first target to die.

I know it's frustrating to wait. Heck, I predicted war to start a month ago. The only thing that would have made me happier than hearing, "The bombing begins in 5 minutes", is hearing, "We have Saddam's body. We have every last item in Iraq's WMD program. Everything is being disposed of as we speak."

Here's what I sent President Bush:

Dear President Bush:

As a patriotic American, I am pleased with your strong efforts against those evil-doers who seek to destroy our Civilization.

You have set the proper tone from the start, and while sometimes I get impatient with what seems like slow progress, I never doubt that you are doing what is right for America.

The UN is incapable of doing the right thing. They are irrelevant. Let the liberation of Iraq begin.

Sincerely,

Rob ***
