I like this guy. I disagree with him at times (I think he made a serious mistake when he blacklisted the AUC freedom fighters in Colombia), but he's a good guy.

Colin doing yeoman's work on telling the committee (and hopefully a few Americans who watch) that he is SO PROUD of the President and his leadership on the Millenium Challenge. Explaining how money will go to those who promote democracy. Also discussing AIDS in Africa funding.

Well it's understandable, with Madaline Albright hanging around Foggy Bottom looking like a derranged Scarecrow, I'd be afraid to go around there too. LOL!

Powell tells Lugar "Any time it suits your purpose, Mr. Chairman, I will go back to the U.N." and chuckles.

This in response to being lauded for his fine presentation yesterday.

The African aid will go to countries that encourage freedom, root out corruption.

One thing that many do not understand about the aid that President Bush gives is that he attaches many rules with that money. He will not just allow aid to be given to the corrupt leaders. The money will go directly to the people. The U.N. hates this but it is the only way GWB will do it. This is important for people to understand.

Just last week he was in Europe, (of course shown on PBS), bashing Bush and America in the most vile of ways.

He is two-faced.

When did this guy grow a pair? He used to be a typical spinelss democrat. He has certainly increased in stature in my view.

He's considering a run for president, and he needs to be seen as a grown-up.

As D's go, he's never been as bad as most, but I still think he'd be a pretty rancid president.

He made one good point on preemption. He says this isn't preemption, it's enforcement of the 1991 peace agreement. Big difference and good point.

BIDEN said that?! Good heavens; that's my nobody-is-saying-this-but-me point! My my, paint me green and call me a pickle.

Eric Shaun needs to ask Blixie why he's scared to say two simple words "material breach". He dances around saying by using the phrase "he believes that Saddam is hiding WMD's". *sigh*

Regarding Russert looking crushed.

I compare his somber demeanor of late to clinton's disgrace and in the midst of impeachment proceedings the Wye Plantation negotiations went on. Russert came on MSNBC absolutely BEAMING with joy that THIS might save the day for clinton and change the course for his disgusting legacy.

To this day I recall looking on aghast as he explained to whoever the anchor was that "The Comeback Kid" might pull out a triumph when all was looking bleak.

Sickening to watch him as he obviously was personally hoping that would be the case.

Looks like cable has concluded Powell's comments are regarding sundry matters and have ceased coverage.

I agree that Colin is doing yeoman's work. But I wish that he didn't have to spend his time, right now, appearing before a Congressional budget committee. Just seems like there must be more important issues at stake that need his attention. (And yes, I recognize the need to secure the budgetary fuel for his dept.)

What did he say in Europe (this would have been Davos, no doubt)? His message was quite good yesterday - can you provide details of traitorous speech at Davos?
