"Neither he nor his family returned calls from The Bee on Wednesday. Peterson may be in Guadalajara, Mexico, for a U.S. Grains Council conference scheduled from Sunday through Wednesday.
The conference is set to take place at the Hilton Guadalajara hotel. A telephone operator there said someone named Scott Peterson stayed Monday and Tuesday, then checked out Wednesday morning, canceling what had been a longer reservation.
Peterson sells fertilizer for Tradecorp, a company based in Spain. The hotel operator said a Tradecorp delegation is due to check in later this week.
Wasden would not say if the Police Department had asked Peterson to limit his travel. "We are not discussing any aspects of the investigation," he said."
WOW so SP is looking at Mexico to escape!

Pinging. You know freepers you are a step ahead on the news for tomorrow...Scott was and did indeed have Mexico in his sights.. SP where are you now?

From left, Ron Grantski, Sharon Rocha and Brent Rocha announce plans Wednesday to renew the search for Laci Peterson, starting on the West Side.

"We are not discussing any aspects of the investigation,"Isn't this a change in the Police Department attitude? I'm surprised that they didn't throw a screaming fit about SP leaving the country. Maybe they know something we don't know.

Cheer up! He might have a run in with the Mexican police, and that will be the end of Scott.
But seriously, if he goes to Mexico, either the Mexican authorities will keep an eye on him, or else private detectives or maybe even U.S. law enforcements will keep tabs on where he goes and what he does down there. Nobody can stop him from going down there, but if I were Laci's family, I'd hire a private detective to follow Scott down there so nobody loses track of his whereabouts.

I don't think the fact that our friend Scottie checked out of his hotel before the show was over necessarily has any significance whatsoever. People often go to trade shows without staying for every day of the event.

I'm sorry, I don't buy his story about getting rid of Laci's vehicle......and if he is in Mexico, the police better have someone joined at the hip with him.....I don't think he can be trusted....

So the Land Rover/ truck thing was what? A goodbye slap in the face to Laci's family? This guy is all over the place on the emotional spectrum. Now he is most likely toying with those watching him so closely. I don't think he has a plan anymore just making impulse moves (house, car, Mexico, media appearances) that are ill-advised. In short, he's unraveling.

uhmmm! where is scott peterson now?
To: runningbear
Man, at first I thought everyone was just being hard on him - automatically assuming it must be the husband. But day by day I am becoming convinced that he indeed did it. He is either extremely retarded or extrememly guilty. I'm voting for the latter.

So SP already checked out of the hotel though the conference is for next week? Is that what is being stated in the article?
He checked in days ahead of time, but now is no longer there?
Hmmm.

from yesterday's thread:
I found myself with Laci and Connor on my mind last nite too. After I logged off I was thinking about the idea a few people were kicking around yesterday. Talking about some kind of special tribute to Connor on 2-10, maybe in the form of contributions to charity in his name,etc..Then I was remebering a short conversation I was having with spectre and The St. Jude hospital came up. I think unless the Rocha family sets up something different, I will make a contribution to St. Judes. Can't think of a better one than one that helps so many children!
Jackie, St. Jude is a great idea. I contribute to them anyway, to the hospital in Memphis.
Much better than some other charities that siphon off so much of the money for their "administrative costs"....I'm pretty sure St. Jude has low overhead costs, at least I've not heard otherwise yet.

Peterson Answers His Critics
POSTED: 7:54 a.m. PST February 6, 2003
UPDATED: 7:57 a.m. PST February 6, 2003
MODESTO, Calif. -- It didn't take Scott Peterson long to respond to criticism leveled at him during a news conference by his missing wife Laci's family on Wednesday.
In a phone call to KTVU's Ted Rowlands, Peterson addressed the reasons why he recently traded in Laci's Land Rover and tried to sell the couple's Modesto home.
Talking from an undisclosed location, Peterson said of the car: "Yes, I traded in the car. We were planning on buying a new one when the baby arrived and I needed a truck for work."
The truck Peterson had used for his fertilizer business was taken into custody by the Modesto Police early in the investigation.
On the house, Peterson said: "Yes, I tried to sell the house. Who the hell would want to live in a house that's unsafe where your wife was kidnapped from?"
Peterson reportedly was in Mexico on a business trip, but would not confirm to Rowlands where he was calling from.
The response Wednesday evening came after an emotional and angry Ron Grantski, the step-father of Laci Peterson, once again called on Scott to cooperate with police and "end this circus."
Grantski met with reporters Wednesday to issue a family statement about the latest development in the case -- Scott Peterson's trading in of Laci's Land Rover for a new truck and his apparent attempt to sell the couple's Modesto home.
"First of all, the car," Grantski said. "People are going to wonder how we found out about the car. We have driven by his house and we've seen the new truck and Laci's car not there. That's how we found out about it."
The family was able to track the Land Rover down at a local dealership with the thoughts of buying it. Late Tuesday, Doug Roberts of Roberts Auto Sales returned the car to the Rocha family free of charge.
"The car was in Scott's name, but thanks to Mr. Roberts, it's in the family name now," he said. "We are going to keep it until Laci comes home."
There have also been rumors circulating around Modesto that Scott Peterson was to meet with a realtor to sell the couple's home.
"About the house, the house is in both Laci's and Scott's name," Grantski said. "I find it hard to believe that he thought he could sell it without Laci's signature. I've found it hard to understand a lot of things Scott has done why should this be any different."
"He said since the first night he wanted the focus to be on Laci and not on him, but with the things he's been doing, the focus is all on him. If you want to change the focus Scott, cooperate with the Modesto Police. End this circus."
Grantski also corrected another misconception that came out of last week's barrage of media interviews by Scott. Laci's due date, he said, had been confirmed by medical officials to be Feb. 10 -- not Feb. 16 as Scott has said.
Scott's trade-in of Laci's Land Rover struck a raw nerve among the woman's family and friends.
On Tuesday, Heather Sutton said Laci loved her Land Rover and can't understand why Peterson would have gotten rid of it.
"It was hard to hear that," she said. "Just because I know that, just by looking at the car, it's totally Laci. And hearing that she loved that car, that was difficult for me...Maybe he has his reasons, I just don't know."
Lucene Gee said she was told by Sharon Rocha, Laci's mother, about the car.
"My first thought was how cold," Gee said. "That's a piece of Laci. Sharon, Laci's mom, turned to us and told us 'You know he sold Laci's car.' It was absolute shock. I didn't know what to say."
Laci Peterson, who was more than seven months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, has not been seen since she vanished on Christmas Eve. At the time, Scott Peterson has told police he was on a day fishing trip to the Berkeley Marina in the Bay Area.
When he arrived home, Scott called police to report Laci missing. A massive search effort that continued for several weeks throughout Northern California failed to turn up any sign of her

The immediate thought that came to my mind is how could he sell the car? If it is in her name or both their names she would have to sign the pink slip {ownership papers in Calif}. Same for the house. I do not think my wife would let me buy assets like a car or house and not put in both our names.

Hey, I got an idea for a new reality TV show. Get this Peterson guy, the "Preppy Killer" when he gets out of jail on Valentine's Day, O.J., and call it "Criminal Bachelor" or "Joe Criminal" and fix these guys up with girls. Do you think there would be any shortage of girls interested in this?

Amber Frye is accused of having an affair with the husband of another pregnant woman, and she was fully aware that she was married.
and for some reason it has pictures of her in a thong bikini.
for what its worth.
