[Sensitive Documents From North Korea the Japanese Recently Obtained]
As a service to Free Republic (and the cause of Truth, Freedom, and National Security) it is my pleasure to synopsize-translate-comment, link to the original report, and pass on to you a quite interesting report today from Tokyo, Japan. This comes through the services of Fuji Television (FNN News). It has to do with internal Communist Korean Worker's Party government documents smuggled out of North Korea which seem to show an increasing level of internal concern and nervous tension over a break up of public order (i.e. 'loss of control') and decline in socialist thought-control over average North Koreans. This may explain exactly why Kim Jong-il appears to be acting uncharacteristically bold these days, and that brinksman North Korea seems intent to "go for broke" as perhaps there seems to be few options left for the cruel despots clinging to state-terror power.
Please read on, below (from the original Japanese-languge web report).
TOPICS: Breaking News; Crime/Corruption; Culture/Society; Foreign Affairs; Government; Japan; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: dprk; fujinewsnetwork; internaldocs; kimjongil; northkorea; nukes; regimecollapse; socialorder

Send the video of Madonna in pointy cone bras and Cher strutting her stuff under the 16inch battleship guns ....that will really freak out the NK's

Thank you DR, and all..... I am sure people will want to hit the link above. Please don't be discouraged in working your way through the Japanese. Unless there is a way to archive the Japanese version from the web ASAP, it may be difficult to access this story again.
1) Go to the link above.
2) A Japanese-language page for FNN will come up with a LOT of graphics.
3) Go to the Hot Link that looks like a PURPLE LABEL ON FILE DOCUMENTS, on the top of the page (that then links to "News").
4) Then, (still with me!?) scroll down to the final story on the page that was posted on 2/5/03 at 23:39 p.m. local in Tokyo, under "Breaking News". You'll find the story there.
Incidentally, the article is, in Japanese: "Sankei Shimbun, "Shihon Shugi no Byoma ni Okasare Shakai Chitsujo ga Hakai Sunzen" to no Kita Chosen Naibu Shiryo wo Nyutei"
Good luck.
Please, everyone give comments, compare to Russia/East Europe situation, etc., and what might be done to further decay the socialist order

bump! great info- thank you! (This also dovetails nicely with the article about even the NK military blaming their leadership for starvation....)

Hopeful, but scary. This may be the most difficult yet to pull off a peaceful transition.
Imagine if Ceausescu had had nukes and missiles to project them.

I would like to know about internet access over in N.Korea. Consistently, our web site hits from Asia every month are always topped with the North Koreans.

I forgot to add..great report..thanks for your efforts....BTW, I predict that Bill Clinton will take credit for the collapse of North Korea....."It all started when I send Madeline Albright over there. Kim realized that if a country could have somethone like that as Secretary of State and still be powerful, man, he had no chance...so he folded.."

Time to invade them with Pepsi and Coke, Levis and Dockers, KFC and McDonalds, some of the current singing and fully bouncing babes in cds and video clips, and send them a picture of what can be bought in a Walmart or Costco.
That should trigger mass assainations of the NK leadership.

It certainly appears that the North Koreans are worried about losing ideological control over the population, but I don't think that implies in any way that a public order collapse is imminent.
It is, however, an encouraging development. I still think that the North Korean population is inecapable of overthrowing that government, and this may, in fact, be even worse news for them. The government is likely to crack down even harder.

Once you get to this news pager, there is an English version. Caveat! Then English usually appears a day later. Therefore, you might be able to find this story tomorrow on this link in English. Cross your fingers. (It's not up there now, I checked).

It's well-known that Kim himself enjoys many Western goods. He has a satellite dish, watches Western movies, is a porn addict. Of course that stuff is only for the higher-up Party members, they can't let the serfs enjoy them.

Time to ratchet up the propaganda war against N.K. as well as Iran. And I can't think of any better guys to do it than team Bush/Rumsfeld.

it might be a nice time for Pres. Bush to make a speech to the NK people stating that the US is not against them, just their leadership, and that if their leadership were different (e.g. regime change) we would be more than willing to provide food and medical aid.

I was thinking endless rap videos like Ludacris and Snoop Dogg, and maybe Marilyn Manson. Hey, we're the Great Satan.
