I will try to contribute, although my TV is in the other room. Howlin encourages people to REPORT on her live threads, rather than getting into tangentials. I will do my best, and I am sure others will as well.

Give him a little credit. He's been turning around a tad lately. ;-)

Fox news reporting China and Russia would support a second vote authorizing force. Also France might come on board. Split on Security Council is not as severe as media has been reporting, according to Fox.

Well, whatta ya know. Last night, Charles Krauthammer suspected that many would jump on board to share in the spoils of war. Mara Liasson interupted him and he never had a chance to finish his thoughts. I'm afraid France will be found to be complicit in selling arms to Iraq - hopefully, Powell will reveal this with us today.

Will there be an Adlai Stevenson moment?

I hereby give you the award for "Repeating Most Overused Media Phrase of the Past Two Days or So". :-)

(Yes and no, IMHO)

I think that France is going to be shown the evidence in the back room, and told to get on board or it goes public, destroying their tourist, wine, perfume, and fashion industries overnight.

Have the TV on now, anxiously awaiting this. Unfortunately I have a Dr's apt. at 11:15 so will have to cut out early.

Thank God for FR so I can catch up on what I missed when I'm done.

Speech starts at 10:30 EST (scheduled), which is within the hour.

It's expected to wrap up by noon eastern ... which is 8PM in Bagdad. Tonight will be moonless ... I'd be a little anxious if I were an Iraqi.

Powell is a good man and is doing a tough job in a manner that the President obviously approves of and supports.

Mara Liason interrupted him [Krauthammer]....

I want to see her sputtering and her liberal arguments discounted tonight on Brit Hume's show.

In the end, neither France or Germany will veto any additional UN resolution. They did what they did for domestic consumption. Both have significant Arab immigrant populations.
