If Iraqi intelligence has penetrated DU, then it shows again the utter stupidity of the regime. The best that DU can do is rouse some hippies who haven't used underarm deodorant since the Nixon Administration, haven't had an original thought since Che Guevara became worm food, and haven't held a job since random drug testing was introduced. Not exactly the movers and shakers in America.
Regards, Ivan

CNBC just pointed out that the French ambassador started speaking at 12:40 at which point the Dow turned. Coincidence? Perhaps so, perhaps not. Uncertainty sure doesn't seem good for the markets.

For some reason, I don't like Shep and I can't really pinpoint why. He seems like the kind of guy who would be equally at home on one of those info-tainment shows like "A Current Affair" or "Entertainment Tonight". Could that be what you're thinking of?

And of course Bubba's the most objective person in their world, right? Oh, this is priceless - and I'm not even able to hear any of it (exiled behind a firewall).

No need to punish yourself like that...
Good one :) It is brutal going over that and seeing how absolutely programmed and in denial those folks are... it is literally painful to me.

If someones investment strategy hangs on what the French say, then they shouldn't be in the market or allowed to hold sharp objects.

Not exactly the movers and shakers in America. True. However, they're the same useful idiots of whom the KGB made such good use during the Cold War. The idea is to get these folks out into the streets for the cameras, and thus the nightly news audience, to see.
The idea is to promote the idea of "reasonable disagreements," and moral equivalence between the good guys and the bad guys.

Sometimes all the analogies to WWII in this scenario are amazing.
I was just watching a show on the history channel last night, about the lead up to WWII. They aired an appeasement speech that Ole Joe Kennedy made as ambassador to the UK, really ticking off Churchill as he was trying to make the case against Hitler. (Shortly after Joe was removed as ambassador.) No War for Ole Joe, No War for swimmer Teddy.

Ritter is currently in Japan, trying to stir up anti-American sentiment. Said when we attack Iraq, before the end of the month, tha No Korea will take advantage of our military being engaged and will strike Japan. ... I suppose Scott is topping off the gas tanks to North Korean Jeeps as we speak.
