In a day filled with emotions, tributes, and tears, President Bush and First Lady Laura attended the memorial service for the astronauts whose lives were lost in the space shuttle Columbia tragedy on Saturday. The President spoke to the crowd of at least 10,000 teary eyed mourners, and eulogized the Columbia crew. In the closing moments of his speech, Bush spoke to the children of the crew by saying, 'And to the children who miss your Mom or Dad so much today, you need to know, they love you, and that love will always be with you. They were proud of you. And you can be proud of them for the rest of your life.' The First Couple returned to Washington this evening. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya.

I have a funny story to tell you all. This morning when I was walking to my World Politics class, I slowly walked by an elderly professor and a student. They were talking about the war so I lingered a little. The man was telling the young woman about a peace rally that was going to be held this week or something. He told the student that she should probably go, and as he said this, he walked past the open door of another prof. and said "You're going too, right, Jim?" And Jim asked where. The older prof said, "To the war protest." Then Jim said, "Yeah I'm going to a protest, but I'm going to protest the peace rally."

I thought to myself, yeah, there's another one for our side! The older prof. had his back to me, but I would have loved to see the look on his face when his collegue said that he was going to protest the war protestors!

Oh yeah-that first shot was so tender. I loved it. Definitely an appropriate and moving break with tradition.

I love our President and our First Lady.

And I know our Father it watching out for them, the families who have experienced unspeakable loss thru the Columbia explosion, the young men and women and older men and women in our nation who are facing this war in real time, their families and our nation. We love you Father! Thank you so much!

This is a beautiful thread-filled with love and friendship at its best. We are all so richly blessed.

Kayak-thank you so much for the Biblical messages and for allowing us to see at a glance our 'family' members who have folks they love preparing for war action. I love that our Father knows each one, just like our President quoted, ' He Who named the stars know each soul....'.

God Bless and protect Colin Powell as he delivers his message to the world, tomorrow. May our Father lay the strong arrows of truth upon each deserving word and send it straight to the hearts and minds of all who hear the remarks.

Really well......and it doesn't make any human sense, does it?

It is not supposed to make HUMAN sense, but we know why you feel as you do.

I just remembered the words to a Rev. Carey Landry hymn which seems to fit Eric's comment, as well as the situation in Iraq.

Peace is flowing like a river
Flowing out from you and me
Flowing out into the desert
Setting all the captives free

Don't feel bad for getting TIME. I planned on getting it this week, because I thought they would have great pics of President Bush from the SOTU, and I was right. Thanks for posting your comment. It gives me that extra push to go out and get it.

Drove to Grand Rapids (320 miles) last week to augment the locals countering the protesting leftists, when President Bush spoke after the State of the Union address.

His motorcade turned up the street at the intersection we were at. His motorcade returned to this intersection on his way to another speech and turned left which put him right in front of us.

I held a 3x5 American flag 12' into the air in my left hand. I rendered the most respectful salute possible with my right hand as he passed by. I am a veteran and I am so grateful for this Commander in Chief.

Thank you freepersup, but he's not in school. The band is a part-time Bluegrass band called Idletymes. If you go to Google and type in that name you can see the web page that is under construction. My son is having trouble getting the time to finish it but you can see their pictures. They have some of the most incredible harmony. Son said many people at the competition told them that they thought they should have won. Of course I think they should have also.

Thank you ken! And thanks for giving your Governor to us! What a gift! :o)

You know, during the election I remember thinking what a great thing it would be if the country could have Governor Bush as our leader. I wanted everyone to know the man that we knew. Then, after the election turned out the way that it did, I knew that President Bush was special- even more so than I had already known. Then came September 11, and much of the partisan bickering stopped and everyone had their eyes opened and began to see what I saw in this man. As tragic as the Shuttle disaster has been, it sure has been a comfort knowing who is in charge. I can't even imagine what this world and country would be like today if the Tree had stolen the election. Luckily, I don't have to imagine that, and I thank God for allowing the rest of the world share in Texas' hometown boy.

THANK YOU GOD FOR PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH!

Oh yes - that is another great hymn. My son and I were discussing the importance of the old hymns this afternoon - he doesn't see it... prefers the new praise and worship stuff.. oh well - he'll learn I am sure!

Where did you go to school?

By the way - I looked at your page - you have a handsome son! He'll do us proud I'm sure!

Just freeped the Oprah poll, and you're right. It does need some major freeping!

Just freeped it myself, and I noticed how biased the first question was. It gives two choices; should the US go it alone, Should the US go in with UN and coalition support. I'm assuming that they mean, should we only go in with UN permission! To heck with that! We'll get the coalition together ourselves, no thanks to the UN! I voted for the US going it alone, though that was never the reality anyway!
