Columbia on the Net (Freerepublic.com acknowledged)

But more informal Web writing makes for just as fascinating reading. A nearly two-month long Space.com thread that tracked the shuttles progress is, as one poster puts it, Almost like a dark novel, full of foreboding, clues to the pending disaster. A FreeRepublic.com thread is equally sad. The Mission Status Center at SpaceFlightNow.com contains another minute-by-minute account of the shuttles flight.

In your first (opening) post, look for the 'report abuse' link, it's next to the 'bookmark' link. Also, look under your name in a given post and the 'report abuse' link can be found there. Also, on the opening page of FR is the webmaster's e-mail address, which I have provided below. Good luck. There may be other ways to reach the administrator as well. I think if you go to the page providing posting instructions there will be a link to the owners/administrators/webmasters.

Thanks CedarDave, ya beat me to it, and thanks freepersup as well.
I have been told , use the report abuse for title corrections or when a speedy edit of a post is in order.
That way, either the Admin Moderator or Sidebar Moderator can intervene in an expeditious manner.
Sending the request in any other way may mean a bit more or a time lag in them receiving the request.

FreeperNation ROCKS!.
I saw a thread that we were getting up into some pretty heavy hits per day. Which call for a snappy salute the the man who made this all possible.

John don't get noticed until something breaks. We have gone awhile without that. Nice work, John.

Thanks for the hint. Hitting "abuse" does get their attention, fast! If there is an offensive post, they want it taken off ASAP.

ROTFLMAO! Reminds me of the time (during the Clintoon impeachment) that I sent a co-worker to www.whitehouse.com. He was real impressed...and it took him a few minutes to decide that it wasn't the real White House site...

Yep, a direct link to the FR thread from MSNBC. Nice.

This article notes that FR was ahead of the Associated Press and other news outlets on the Columbia disaster, but not as clearly as the Wall Street Journal did. However, none of the sources that discussed FR scooping the AP made an effort to figure out WHY this bunch of amateurs were able to do that. The reason is that most reporters in the lamestream media are not very well educated, and DON'T THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE REPORTING.
FReepers ARE well-educated. And we DO think about what we are reading and writing. Some of us were able (not me, but others) to see immediately the clues of the failure of the shuttle. So they, and through their posts the rest of us, knew that Columbia was probably lost while all the desk-jockeys in the lamestream media were blowing up balloons for the welcome home party.
Oft times, as here, the WHY of the story is more important and more interesting than the WHAT of the story. And FR deals in WHY as well as WHAT, 24/7.

I have it on good authority the NY Times is interested in getting us mentioned in a story.
Question: Should we use this as leverage to make our trouble with the NY Times disappear?
Or is that all dealt with?
