[history]
Al Qaeda is planning a mass-casualty attack to rival September 11, but preparations have been disrupted by arrests of terrorists during the past several months, according to U.S. intelligence officials.
Recent intelligence reports indicate that communications among clandestine cells of al Qaeda members are being restored gradually, the intelligence officials said.

Thanks for your reply and data.
It seems like to me since Danny Pearl was killed, there have been a lot of reports of arrested al Queda and other Islamofacist thugs in Pakistan on a regular basis. We know that there are more, but a lot have been arrested and neutralized.

Tora Bora, fiasco for whom?
The parts and pieces of Beeny Larden and his fellow goat humpers that haven't been eaten by scavengers point to a big fiasco for the Goat Humpers.
According to the Nay Sayers, we should be still fighting in those caves for the next 5 years.
May we have more fiascos like that in Iraq, Iran, Syria and N Korea.

It's interesting that the big event is to be preceded by smaller events, including assassinations.
Bookmark that thought if something like this occurs.

Additionally, the intelligence reports stated that any major attack is likely to be preceded by smaller-scale strikes, including assassinations of prominent people in the United StatesLike Hillery Klinton, Tom Dashle, Ted Kennedy, members of the progressive caucus, Jimmie Carter, George Clooney, Jane Fonda, Alec Balwin, Barbara Streisand?

Like Hillery Klinton, Tom Dashle, Ted Kennedy, members of the progressive caucus, Jimmie Carter, George Clooney, Jane Fonda, Alec Balwin, Barbara Streisand? No, I think Al Quaida's strategy is to only assasinate their enemies...

Why would they kill their allies?

Unfortunately the Bush Administration will never get credit for the terrorist attacks they have thwarted (but they will surely get the blame for any future ones that occur).

Bin Laden in the past tense:
If on the small chance that he is still alive, I would also keep him hidden until the next attacks. The next attacks are coming.
The golf course assassination plans are well documented. I'm sure the security around most U.S. legislators and cabinet memebers is not all that secure.
So the plan might be to try to assassinate say 20 VIPs in the government along with several separate cities attacks. Then have Bin Laden on the night news to explain everything...
We'll see, unfortunately, what they can pull off....,

Maybe it's me, but the only thing that seems precious to these vermin is their religion. If I am not mistaken, the cities of Mecca and Medina are near and dear to their hearts. Why not buzz these two cess pools with a low level high speed fly over by a squadron of stealth bombers. Maybe they would get the message.
Just a suggestion.
