WASHINGTON, DC, Jan. 30, 2003: (AMC Press Release) In a letter to U.N. Secretary Kofi Annan, AMC Executive Director Eric Erfan Vickers, has called on the U.N. to conduct an inquiry into the political repression of Muslim and Arab and Asian Americans by the United States government.
Citing six examples of political repression by the U.S. government, including the new INS policy targeting Muslim countries, Vickers stated, our hope is that if the U.N. can shine some world light on the un-American practices of the U.S. government, then perhaps this country can begin to right itself.
See attached letter.
January 30,

VIA TELEFAX Honorable Kofi Annan Secretary-General United Nations United Nations Headquarters First Avenue at 46th Street New York, New York 10017
Re: Political Repression of Muslims in the United States
Dear Secretary-General Annan:
I am writing to request that the United Nations begin an immediate inquiry into the political repression of Muslim and Arab and Asian Americans by the United States government. We are making this request because all our frequent calls on Americas political leaders to cease the governments religious and ethnic profiling have fallen on deaf ears. Thus, regrettably, the American citizens victimized by this repression must look to the world outside for relief from these shameful and undemocratic practices by our government.
These wrongful acts by the U.S. government include:
(1) The Justice Departments new policy of selectively gathering intelligence information on mosques and Muslims without having to establish any criminal connection or basis for this intrusive surveillance;
(2) The targeting of persons from Muslim countries for registration and fingerprinting by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service;
(3) The detention and deportation of Muslim and Arab and Asian immigrants through selective enforcement of immigration laws;
(4) The barring of Muslims from returning to the U. S. after visiting abroad through selective enforcement of immigration laws;
(5) The arbitrary rounding up of over 5,000 citizens who were either Muslims or of Middle Eastern descent without any criminal basis for this collective suspicion and criminal processing;
(6) The arbitrary denial of access to the American legal system through selectively classifying persons as enemy combatants.
We have no illusions about the power of the U.N. to inquire into wrongs by a nation with the stature of the United States. However, our hope is that if the U.N. can shine some world light on these un-American practices by the U.S. government, then perhaps this country can begin to right itself.
Your time and consideration are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely yours,
Eric Erfan Vickers Executive Director American Muslim Council 721-R 2nd Street NE, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20002 Tel: 202-543-0075, Fax: 202-543-0095 E-mail: media@amconline.org
The End.

Well, Good Morning you three! Sorry for getting your blood pressure(s) up so early......
These people, btw, have certainly learned how to play the game. Gosh, if I didn't KNOW better, I'd say the ACLU was behind this.

wholly shucken fit!!
This is truly ridiculous and traitorous! These ungrateful sons of bitches are not deserving of America. Man this ticks me off to no end.
To: knak
I suppose this falls under freedom of speech.
Therefore, I will exercise mine.
Throw the bums out! Uppity Arabs and Muslims please go home for the duration!

Well, one GOOD thing I thought of which might come out of this - the "American" Muslim Council might just get infiltrated.....they're making themselves a target now.

Maybe Kofi will appoint Jimmy Carter to head the un commission.

Does anyone believe that the United (cough) Nations, can possibly survive a lot longer in its present form. This is quickly degenerating into an 'us' versus 'them' scenario.
The answer to your question....."they really do want us mad, don't they!"..........I don't think it matters to them. We are witnessing an emboldened 3rd world uprising......with Islamofascism at it's spearhead . The Talibedpan was just a start, Iraq is only next.....there's a big job ahead.
To: Howlin
Whoops. I assumed (???) you'd be in bed and you'd get that in the morning.
Nice, isn't it?
To: Cool Guy
They think they're repressed now. Wait util there is another terrorist attack, thennot only will the government be after them but so will the people.

Either that -- or cover it up big time in order to protect the guilty.
You are probably correct, however.

Hey @$$h*les!!!! We don't answer to the %^&*# UN! Pardon my language but I am so sick of these whining jackasses. We have a right and a responsibility to protect AMERICANS!!! Hey, I have an idea! If they don't like the way we treat foreigners while they're in this country, how about we don't let them come here at all. Works for me. Who the h*ll do these people think they are???

Gosh, if I didn't KNOW better, I'd say the ACLU was behind this. What evidence do you have that they are not?
It would not surprise me at all to learn that the ACLU was not in fact working behind the scenes on this.
