Thank you, Yonif, and all of the others of you who have enlightened me about Col Ramon, his purpose on the flight and his part in the heroic raid on the reactor.

Thanks so much for the ping to this thread. I had read about the Israeli pilot being one of the ones who destroyed Iraq's nuke plant.

So sad for all their families

D1, I don't remember where I saw it, but some of the good Palistinians actually collaborated with Ramon, and some of the stuff he was doing was actually a joint project.

Sorry I don't have the link, but I did read it on FR.

Thanks for the ping, Grammi. They all look so innocent, so happy, and so carefree. My heart breaks for their loss of life and their family. There's was such a tragedy, and I pray that their family's will be comforted by the touch of God. With each tragedy that befalls our country, our world, and our people, my heart just breaks more and more.

Yes he was, and he was 1 of only 2 jets which streaked through the night and performed a daring raid upon the nuclear site in Iraq. They totally destroyed the complex. I'm not certain, but I don't think Iraq has ever rebuilt it.

George Shultz denounced the attack at the time. Now it is rightfully seen as a critically important event, which grows in importance as the current Iraqi events unfold. If only there was a country with the courage of Israel in close proximity to North Korea.

His job on board STS107 was to manage the $2 million dollar Israeli experament in dust cloud dynamics

You are misinformed. According to Palestinian sources, Ramon's mission was to "spy on the Arab and Muslim world". But the mission was thwarted by "the hand of god". Please read up on the correct Arab sources before commenting.

No one else had posted it, so I am posting the official STS107 photo of Ramon.
This version was produced from the orginal release by NASA.
I have cropped it to show only Ramon and other interesing aspects of the photo.
The original had some dead space surrounding Ramon and these objects.
I also resized, tinted and adjusted the contrast to make this a warmer picture.

You can click on this photo for a full screen sized version.

I reply: Actually, the post to which you are responding was posted by another FReeper.

I remain duly chastened, just the same, however!

Indeed! Make sure you parrot the correct Islamofascist propaganda, to protect yourself when Sharia law is established.
