For the second time in two years, President Bush spoke to console and grieve with the rest of the nation in remarks regarding the tragic loss of the space shuttle Columbia. Bush left Camp David early this morning and returned to the White House as he followed the events over the Texas sky. In his speech, Bush succinctly expressed the fears of by stating, 'The Columbia is lost; there are no survivors.' The President exchanged condolences with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as the first Israeli astronaut lost his life with six other Americans. All federal flags have been lowered to half-staff.
God bless the families of the brave souls who have joined the heavens they so willing chose to explore.

***Actually, I heard it reported that he added the Scripture and comment to the
speech himself.***
Thank you for telling me that. I thought that he merely "approved" putting it in and that was sufficient for me, but knowing that he chose it makes it really special. I truly love our President.

No, I don't think he would abandon his mission. This isn't a job, it's a calling. I do believe you are right.

I think the weight of war is beginning to take its toll. Plus today's event must bring home to him the preciousness of the lives of the young men he is sending into battle.
And ... the stupidity and arrogance of the dim dems doesn't help either.

You knew we needed this home thread today. And your love for our President, and your willingness to do the photo search and take the time to post these pictures and provide deep and meaningful quotes from our President just mean so much. Thank you.
And Lord-Please embrace and comfort our families in this nation that face the deepest of sorrows because of untimely death, help them to feel the love and concern of their nation. Embrace all who are fearful, sick or alone and help us, already so very very blessed to live in this land, to be better, more compassionate, more discerning and more aware of the great blessings and love You so awesomely gift us with-we love You, guide us Father, in the name of Jesus the Christ, Amen.

Thanks for the thread.....Just broke into tears when I saw the first picture. He DOES feel our pain. The difference is he doesn't have to tell us about it.
Thank God for the constitution. God has blessed our dear country with this good an humble man. May we strive to deserve his leadership and God's continued blessings.

Sometimes I worry that the burdens he is under are so great that he'll decide one term as President is enough.Don't worry...he'll run. He's not going to give hillary an easy entrance into the White House. He's not fighting the war on terror for nothing. The last thing he wants is to see the clintons back in the White House and the liberal agenda back full-force. Besides, if he didn't run, I'd be suicidal...he wouldn't do that to me...:-)

Please, dear God, lift the burdens from his shoulders. Let him know that we pray for him everyday, and that we will gladly help him carry the load.

Providence has laid very heavy loads on our President's shoulders. But President G W Bush has very broad shoulders, and with our prayers he will carry America through this trying times. May God Bless President Bush, the United States of America, and may the souls of those 7 astronauts
who died today rest in peace.

"He just looks so tired to me. And he has all week"
Yes, he does look weary. I get the feeling the last ten days or so have been especially difficult and suspect it has to do with those terrorist briefings he gets every morning. Dangerous cells have been found in Spain, Italy and England but he knows that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Oh, I know he'll run but sheesh...his burdens are so immense! But he is much too honorable to turn his back on them. He knows the country needs him.

***Nah. Their first (collective) thought was how to use this for their own benefit.
The next was how to blame President Bush and the Vast Right-Wing
Conspiracy.***
Thye're already doing that. Some Senator (sorry, I didn't hear his name) was on radio today saying that he's been telling them they were wrong to cut down on money for the space program. He did say that today's tragedy was not caused by lack of money. But, you wanna bet that will be the libs (communists) war cry now? (And does anyone know how much Clintoon cut down the space program?)
