I think we need to re-think using the shuttles for "stunts".
We tried to put the first Teacher in space, and it blew up. Now we put the first Israli in space....
Yes, I know there were legit experiments going on with the mission. It is just that both of our losses with the shuttle program were on missions where we were trying to do a "first".
If they want to put the first truck driver in space, I think I'll pass.
Our prayers go out to the families of the crew.

No. And like I mentioned on the other thread : If any images are posted to any site, US or international , of "street celebrations" : Post the jpegs to FR, because the news media apparently removed all images of the post 9/11 celebrations as soon a s they could. I fear they may not post any such images at all, but if they do-we need to save them. It's like 1984.

I didn't say many tiles, I said a few--obviously, if enough come off, it's disastrous. A few always get knocked loose.

No - I was thinking the same thing. Any symapathy that I ever had for the Palestinians was wiped out by their 9/11 celebrations and later by their seizure of the Church of the Nativity in Bethelem.

I went to it (the radar) probably 1/2 hour after the incident (the radar goes back an hour) and saw the plume expand.
I'm guessing, but it probably is the gasses on board the shuttle that is sending back the radar signals.
The thing I'm looking at is the straight line south west of shreveport (sp).

We still have people at the Space Station but I don't know the number. The Shuttle takes up new crews for the space station and supplies.

Not a heat spike within the shuttle - from the US spy sats. Our early warning satellites picked up an atmospheric "spike" where the shuttle was.

I live in Plano. Heard about the fire, don't know where yet. Many sirens between 8 and 9 am.

I just rolled out of bed after being up all night studying, clicked on FR and saw this. Terrible indeed. Very sad day. God bless the families.

Have we received Federal permission to fly our flag at half mast? I am a stickler for the rules, I guess.

Could the onboard computers be hacked?
Always a possibility but it could also be some bad coding or just a hairline crack that let go.
To: GRRRRR
Yeah. They lose tiles all the time. They're made to be ablative, so they can stick new ones on once they're down.

Isn't it nice that we have FR to gather around?I've thought the same thing many a time. As my son remarked this morning, it's really good to have FR because we have so many freepers in places to report first hand. (Thank you, Jim Robinson, for this wonderful access and gathering place.)
