Thank you for the post about the Israel Colonel.

A crank caller got on live with Dan Rather and said "You are an idiot". Rather replied "I am an idiot".

My hubby knew all of those astronauts. It was a very sad time in this household. I was watching too. It is something I will never forget.
My thoughts are with you and on angels wings to the lost astronauts and their families.

Some Texas farmer just said on CNN that there was another airplane in the area that he saw in the sky at the time of the accident..did anyone else see this too? This shouldn't be a big shock. If this was in the Dallas area, there are planes everywhere.

Two perps were arrested a few days ago on the parachute problem. I think 13 of 22 chutes were cut and only 3 people had keys to the lockers.

Eerily reminiscent of Challenger pictures. I shed a tear then and am extremely sad now.
My heart goes out to all of the astronaut's families. Pray to give them the strength they need to get thru this.

Do we know that the fire is related to the orbiter?

CBS news radio also reporting debris, including body parts, found in Jasper County, TX, near St. Augustine. That's not reasonable. The temperatures during an uncontrolled re-entry would burn off all but the most durable components.

celebrating bigtime on al jezeera. -
Sadley, I expected they would. This isn't just an American disaster, but a human disaster, and anyone who celebrates is a sub-human.

Dan Rather just finished a telephone interview with what turned to be, a Howard Stern moron.

Same here, my 13 yr old boy was home sick also, and I was on vacation. He asked me what time was the shuttle due to launch, I told him and we watched it together, Never did that before. He was interested in it because of the ant experiment on board from Syracuse.

A follow up to my previous response - The Air Force has been argueing for it's own manned space plane for many years. Duplication of resources and inter-agency resource fighting has not allowed that to go forward. That equation just changed.
I think the next manned space vehicle has a high likelihood of being military. Justifiably or not, NASA may no longer be entrusted with the manned space role.
Of course, these are just thoughts right now. Its too early to know what will happen, and as I stated earlier, I am stunned at the loss of a former classmate and friend, feel for the families of all, and feel a great sadness inside myself as the Shuttle program was a great inspiration for me in my own career.

Good gosh.
Dan Rather and CBS News is putting crank callers on the air now.
Some crank calling claiming to have debris in his yard. At least he said something that is true, he called Rather an IDIOT.
