Shuttle Contact LOST-No Tracking Data During RE-Entry!

Shuttle has NOT been heard from or seen on tracking radar since 0800Hrs CDT. No contact at Merrit Island tracking station, no voice comm...DEVELOPING.

What qualifies you to come to these conclusions? How do you know it would have been possible to re-route the shuttle to the ISS? What information do you have that tells you the shuttle could have been returned to the earth without a crew onboard?

This was discussed at length on another thread, and on that video in question what you are seeing is not the shuttle itself but a distortion of the video camera. When the camera zooms out and re-focuses, you don't see that triangular shape anymore.

The proof was in the equipment itself and the altitude of the shuttle. There's no way in hell a home video camera (which is what FOX said it was) could see that kind of detail on the space shuttle at 200,000+ feet.

I could have sworn the back end was towards the camera and the pointy end was facing the other direction and I'm not sure any camera can get distorted that much. Not only that, does anyone know what the time correlation was in regards to lost contact and that particular shot. I would be willing to bet that not even NASA knows that yet.

I have followed a couple of your links and I have to say that I have never seen such a collection of self-deluded fools gathered in one place in my entire life.

These people are so full of hate that they don't seem to be able to function. There's no basis in reality for anything that they say. They refer to a mountain of evidence that Bush had something to do with 9/11. I seriously believe that they cannot tell the difference between reality and their own wishful thinking.

I cannot for the life of me shake the mental image that they all look like the comic-book store guy from the Simpsons.

I agree that the press needs to show some restraint here, but I just finished reading an article about the recovery of the Challenger victims, and I wouldn't trust NASA as far as I could throw them. Even the families back in 1986 were treated badly when it came to the recovery efforts -- NASA spent weeks denying that the crew cabin was even intact after the shuttle broke apart, when a lot of people knew damned well that it had hit the water in one piece.

My husband just told me about the helmet shot -- after reading earlier that they had found a helmet from Challenger with a scalp and ears inside -- I felt sick to my stomach -- it seems inconceivable that there could be identifiable remains -- I thought at first that it might have been a farmer or someone on the ground who had been hit by burning debris and killed

It was a light burn framing the camera's lens. It's a common occurance when panning a videocam quickly while turning it on.

That thread was an interesting read, especially in showing how quickly everyone turns into an instant expert.

Shifts the focus too easily from the tragedy. This is depressing to watch.

When my step-daughter was killed in a car accident, the local newspaper incorrectly reported it.
