Perfection is pursuit of the good. Seems to be an epidemic of this these days. Very very "PC"... I don't think its "PC". I think its common sense and the way things should go. We should get better. That's the greek ideal to me. If its -25F outside wouldn't you rather piss in your indoor toilet instead of an outhouse?

Thanks for keeping the pics coming for us. Good job.

It used to be in Breaking News??? Where is it now? I had to go to "My Comments" to find it again???Every time someone put it in Breaking, The Mods removed it. I just put it on Front Page; we'll see if it sticks.

...'38 Studebaker that was used in a demolition derby.
Not my exact thoughts, but I totally agree that it just looks hammered.

At the moment, the 'off scale low' doesn't not mean that the tire pressure was low... it could have been momentarily high, and then off scale low could also indicate a non-existent reading.
It is important to point out that aestrides was the first to report ,hours ago, that there was a tire pressure problem on the left wing tire which was the same left wing that had the foam hit on launch.

Last time I looked there was nothing better than the Space Shuttle available.
And NASA was lucky to get funding for that.
Social programs, you know (read wealth transfers)...

"RUSH was on vacation some thing big always happens" The solution is simple then. We just mustn't let Rush take any more vacations. ;-)

Yes, they were "over CA" earlier in the morning (about 8:45 am) at 400,000 - 300,000 feet altitude.
The Shuttle DOES rotate in the same direction as the earth (from west to east!) and DOES land (usually in FL) coming in from the west.
It broke up somewhere between NM and central Texas, and spread debris from central TX through Missippi.

This guy is such a sweetheart:
Yep---been listening to the endless "barfola" rolling in to the open lines of C-Span. How convenient for Georgie (damnest luckies man I've ever seen) that just when he needs to boost his sagging numbers and wage his war, KABOOM, and the national crying jag and "seeking comfort" from Our President and Laura is on the roll again. BUT, the ultimate of our arrogance that makes us hated around the world also emerged in so many of those calls. Call after call was about what a wonderful Christian country this is and that all this really are signs, etc. of God's love for this nation, blah, blah. Did it ever occur to these people that if, indeed, God is sending signs, then this one was in Neon, Flashing Lights: i.e.: over Texas and with an Israeli aboard as we prepare to blow up the Middle East????---sound like he's saying: I condemn the US; I condemn their one sided realationship with Israel; and I don't like that pieces of Texas cow shit in the White House!!! But would these people ever get a message like that??--no, of course not, 'cause we are da' US of A and the right hand bud of God.....now if this had happened to Russia, then we would be talking about God punishing the unholy, foreigners. (PS--I think these people are going to be real busy trying to interpret disaster after disaster to this country as god's blessing on us----and they are really going to have to dig about god blessing them when they start losing their homes, their savings, their retirements, and the like).
W/apologies to Rodney Dangerfield, it sounds like this guy really cares. About what, I have no idea.

You heard it??? Dude...
That was hardcore, what happened. It was on take-off, right after take-off, right?
I got back at noon from a 40-mi ride down and back from the cycle shop ("waaaaalll akshually we don't have that kinda clutch handle in stock, we'll hafta back-order it and call ya in a couple weeks, I reckon") and was sitting my frozen a$$ outside the coffee shop with a smoke, and some old guy came by and told someone sitting there that "the Challenger blew up this morning"... Well the Challenger done blew, God rest their souls, so I figured something else at NASA had gone screwy again-- went home to thaw out my feet and sure enough, all the news channels were talking about this... God rest their souls.

reading DU posts often makes me do some soul-searching -- I find myself wonderinbg what I would have been writing here if Gore was our President -- would I have been making snide/sarcastic remarks about his "wooden" face or his "forced" emotions ?? Maybe -- I hope that I would not behave in such a shallow way, but I do wonder...

i was just interviewed by VOA -- i've done a bunch of writing on the shuttle over the years (got a pulitzer nomination for this in the miami herald) -- and was told that they're celebrating bigtime on al jezeera. made me want to vomit, but that was a feeling i first got when the clueless fox and friends crowd said the shuttle was "a minute overdue," lacking even the wits to realize that the shuttle does not circle the patch awaiting clearance.
anyway, they're having a happy time over in the land of the religion of peace.

I guess you missed the earlier threads, but Jim Rob has REPEATEDLY asked and then told us not to post links to DU, not to post quotes from DU, and to simply ignore them.
Let it go.

HOUSTON (AP) First indication of trouble on shuttle was loss of temperature sensors in hydraulic system of left wing, NASA official says.

Not to defend TSPR, but the Admin Moderator did say it was OK to post DU crapola in this thread, and this thread only.
>Let it go.
Good advice for a number of folks on this thread.
