Fox and MSNBC reporting there is postal truck being driven by a woman postal employee that has been hijacked. People are actually approaching the truck as it slows down and one guy just threw his hands in the air as the postal truck drove off!

I wonder if they're going to make her do her route after the chase is over? "Neither rain, nor snow, nor heat, nor gloom of night", nor armed wackos one supposes, "stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

If your occupation is Bank Robber or Burglar you certainly have the opportunity to cover more territory, increase your take, get more accomplished....in other words build up your cash while not being harassed by law enforcement. Probably complete a dozen jobs and be three states away before LE realizes they may have used too many resources on this one hijacker. Just another beautiful day in South Florida.

About the schools--they locked them down when the chase started. Said they didn't want any kids outside while the guy was driving around with a gun. They were also afraid he might take a kid for another hostage. Since he'd already fired once at them, they didn't want any kids in the crossfire, if it came to that.
Dig that cool "Postal Pursuit" logo on the screen! I'm not sure if it's Fox News' work or the local station (WSVN).

My daughter the postman just came by, and asked the temperature in Miami. She said that tin can truck would be heating up...getting very uncomfortable by now. She also asked how the guy got control of the truck, because all doors, by regulation, are supposed to be locked at all times. (We then agreed, a gun in your face might make you unlock a door pretty darn quick.)

Wonder if Bill Richardson is coaxing them to distract from Iraq so the Democrats can win the election in 2004?
To: PhiKapMom
MSNBC is saying the guy is a black male about 40-45 years of age with short hair and wearing a black t-shirt
There was a shooting at another place/residence and then this guy commandeered the mail truck

I wondered if the postal truck would be getting hot especially now that they are barricaded in the back.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Time to send half the guys away to do their regular jobs.
It looks like they called people who bought old cop cars at auction and asked to borrow 'em back. I've never seen so many in one place.

Wonder if Bill Richardson is coaxing them to distract from Iraq so the Democrats can win the election in 2004?I wouldn't give Richardson that much credit (let alone the Dems).

Or is DPRK working with Saddam as well?)Actually, China's pulling both strings, I think. NK has sold a lot of stuff to Iraq, as well as the other muslim states.

Sounds like this postal truck was just driving by the scene and he used it as his get away vehicle. Wonder how they found him in this postal truck?
