The Dragon's Fury Series by Jeff Head was recently mentioned in the January 20, 2003 edition of Shotgun News. The article is by the owner of Fred's M-14 Stocks.
Here's what he said.
Right now, we are in the pre-WWII period, fat and complacant, sure of our superpowerness. Even 9/11 did not really wake us up. We are still pouring billions in trade surplus into the Chinese military, just like we did 70 years ago with Japan. If you want a taste of what the future holds, check out Jeff Head's Dragon's Fury Series (www.dragonsfury-breathoffire.com). The first two volumes are out, and they are explosive! We are, because the entire country is alseep to history, going to repeat history once again ...
Volume I, Dragon's Fury - Breath of Fire was also written up in the June 17, 2002 edition on Page 73. The same owner of Fred's M-14 Stocks entitled his review, "Breath of Fire" a Scary Book.
Here is what he said.
BREATH OF FIRE A SCARY BOOK I just read a white hot new book on the start of World War III, called "Dragon's Fury - Breath of Fire" by Jeff Head. The first of five volumes, it is well worth the read because it shows how easy it would be in the world today for us to go - in a few months - from superpower to embattled ...under a threat even more massive than World War II.
Naturally, our Chinese friends are at the bottom of it, just like they will be in real life. (Before the outbreak of World War II with Japan, farsighted authors were portraying a war with Japan in prophetic fiction, one forecasting the Japanese advance on the Philipines - and the attack on Pearl Harbor! I sure hope Jeff doesn't have the same foresight, for, if he does, we are in for some rough sledding.) ...
The huge Chinese trade surplus today is financing a Chinese military build-up. The Japs were smart, tough enemies, and the Chinese are going to be tough, hard-to-beat enemies also. Truly, "those who do not remember history are condemmed to repeat it."
Fred's M-14 Stocks gave another good mention of Dragon's Fury in Shotgun News this week as quoted above. He has promised a comprehensive review of Volume II, Trodden Under, in the next 3-4 weeks. I will post it when it is available.
For all of those following the series. Volume III, High Tide will be out and available at the end of February.
With the prospct of land war in the Mid East almost a certainty ... with the pronouncements and posturing by North Korea as we lead up to that war ... and with the Red Chinese continuing to procure and developed advanced weapons as quickly as they can ... many of the exact fictional aspects of the scenario presented in these books are becoming more and more plausible ... ie. an unholy alliance between the fundamental Islamics states and Red China and her allies ... pitted against us.
The books were, and are, being written in the hopes of avoiding such horrific circumstances. I pray that that hope holds.
Fregards.
BTW, the subtle changes you are making on your EFOD site are great. The "Chapters 1-26" is a good addittion. Lots of pages to follow through on. Looking forward to the next installment.
You are going to love Volume III ... keeps you hoppin and keeps knocking you in the gut while hope struggles to appear on the horizon.
Fregards
Back at ya.
Nice ... very nice ... and very true! Also very dangerous.
Momentum is building (slow and steady is always preferable to a flash in the pan :)....
(Thanks for the ping.)
