QUICKVOTE Do you agree or disagree with Nelson Mandela's assessment of the United States?

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (CNN) -- Former South African president Nelson Mandela has slammed the U.S. stance on Iraq, saying that "one power with a president who has no foresight, who cannot think properly, is now wanting to plunge the world into a holocaust."

Maybe the United States can add Zimbabwe and South Africa
on their itinerary after taking care of 'bizness in Iraq
and North Korea.

Don't forget about the Church bombing back in 1993 that
contained a vast white majority that killed many people.
Of course Mandela was not implicated, but I wouldn't be
surprised that he may have had a secret hand in it.

Hey bagman, where is your source about Americans and Europeans moving to Cape Town? I have heard that this
will a future place for stability in SA, so please
give me a weblink source if you could please. Also,
I have heard Cape Town compared to San Francisco as
far as the idyllic landscape and seaside scenery.

Its not that bad. West Austin is quite conservative. Its mostly the fault of the faculty and student radical types that surround the University of Texas and the large minority population that lives east of I-35. Drive through Austin and you'll see plenty of Bush bumper stickers.

I stand corrected my friend. Please accept my apologies
and I have realized that the University of Texas is the
main bed of liberalism.

He does seem a little ungrateful. He owes a huge debt of thanks, instead, he spits on the one ntion that didn't rape Africa or her people.

"The Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa has begun hearing evidence from Jerry Richardson, a former close associate of Winnie Madikizela Mandela."

Not the guy who owns Denny's?

Speaking at the International Women's Forum, Mandela said "if there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America."

Where is P.W. Botha when you really need him?

I really would like to see just who was polled in that poll. Certainly, the Afrikaners are not thrilled with losing power. However, the country is pretty calm, and the ANC recognizes that it needs the whites if the country is going to succeed. Mugabe of Zimbabwe, on the other hand, seems to think that he can get along without the whites.

I was in the Capetown area for two weeks, so I have a few unscientific impressions. My experience there certainly cannot be taken as definitive or as endowing me with great insights, I agree. I understand that Johannesburg has some very serious crime problems while the crime rate in Capetown is much less, although still too high.

Nonetheless, it looks to me that South Africa is the last, great hope of the continent. I really do think that the majority of the population there recognizes that they have to live and get along together.

Doing a Google search, I found that two poverty studies and a nutrition study released in September (2002, I think) showed that black South Africans were poorer then than in 1994.

"The media won't cover what South Africa is like today"

How true. I walked the steets of Jo-Burg in 1984. I wouldn't even get close to that area today.

"America is a bunch of lousy racist imperialist warmongers!"

"Good job Nelson, now wait for further instructions!"

"Awww, yeah, we gonna kill us some white folks now, right Mugabe?"

Mandela Quotes

"We Communist Party members are the most advanced revolutionaries in modern history ... the enemy must be wiped out from the face of the earth before a Communist world can be realized." - Nelson Mandela, during his 1962 trial for terrorism. Quoted in The Wanderer, July 1, 1990, page 6.

"The cause of Communism is the greatest and most arduous cause in the history of mankind. On Page One of this section we found out that our aim is to change the present world into a Communist world where there will be no exploiters and exploited, no oppressor and oppressed, no rich and poor. We also make the point that the victory of Socialism in the U.S.S.R., in China and other States in Asia and Eastern Europe proves that a Communist world is capable of attainment. But in spite of this victorious advance, the Communist movement still faces powerful enemies which must be crushed and wiped out from the face of the earth before a Communist world can be realised. Without a hard and bitter and long struggle against capitalism and exploitation, there can be no Communist world. The cause of Communism is the greatest cause in the history of mankind, because it seeks to remove from society all forms of oppression and exploitation to liberate mankind, and to ensure peace and prosperity to all." - Nelson Mandela, How to be a Good Communist

"Long live the Cuban Revolution. Long live comrade Fidel Castro... Cuban internationalists have done so much for African independence, freedom, and justice. We admire the sacrifices of the Cuban people in maintaining their independence and sovereignty in the face of a vicious imperialist campaign designed to destroy the advances of the Cuban revolution. We too want to control our destiny... There can be no surrender. It is a case of freedom or death. The Cuban revolution has been a source of inspiration to all freedom-loving people." - Nelson Mandela, Moncada Barracks Ceremony, Cuba, 30 Jul 91.

It is sheer FUN being a conservative in this town. My wife is an M.D. who sees the theft of services on a grand scale.

Out to eat at a restaurant? BEWARE! The AIDS & HEP-B/C infection rate here is higher than virtually any city in the USA.

Plus, the folks in the kitchen come from foreign regions where use soap and water after going to the toilet never crossed their minds. Look in the waste paper basket in a public restroom, and see toilet paper with feces on it. THEY DONT FLUSH IT! Ever wonder why E-Coli wasn't a common problem in the 60s? Check out the demographic shift.... ...BORDERS ...LANGUAGE ...CULTURE!
