CP is a naysayer. I wouldn't let him get to you.

You are as clueless as you are long-winded.

This post pretty much summarizes the whole debate of 30 years.
This is an intensely personal family experience and I believe no one should presume to give advice.
Since I don't know what I'd do under similar circumstances, I don't feel morally qualified to advise anyone.
However, the whole debate has always revolved around the public funding of this most bizarre and brutal form of birth control. I always have felt and continue to feel that in matters of conscience, any government involvement is criminal.
As with so many other issues of a personal nature, I believe the only place this debate and decision belongs is at the family level, for better or for worse.

Get her to a Crisis Pregnancy Center. They will provide her with
all of her options. They're
very experienced with counseling women under duress.
I used to do sidewalk vigils outside of Planned Infanticide on Saturdays and the young women were escorted in by their boyfriends or mothers in equal proportion.

My post wasn't addressed to you, but I'll play.
spare me your condemnation and judgement and fly by nite assessments of my character and motivation.
I will bet she is talking to everyone she knows including us...Good families don't call in the public and every tom dick and harry around for judgements, advice, etc...
Talk about condemnation, judgement and uninformed assessments. Did you ever stop to think that Skooz brought this issue online because of the anonymity the Site affords? I don't know that Skooz is talking to everybody he/she knows, how do you? And I can see that this family is taking this situation seriously and looking for ways to avoid, a sign of a good family, your condemnation and judgement notwithstanding. And if you want to respect the privacy of this girl, you should know that your posts are bumping this discussion to the top for more people to see. So take your own advice and go away.

Whatever.
That email you provided us was breathless in tone, and included phraseology that looks nothing less than snide.
I realize that in some families people talk like that in all sincerity, and nothing negative could be inferred, but given your headlong rush to confer with the internet, I tend to doubt it.
Oh well, I'll leave you to your devices. Hope everything works out for the girl - she needs comfort and compassion regardless of what she decides.

I was commenting about the situation before a potential abortion, not after.
Wont she be away at college?

Another thing. I used to be on the board of a Crisis Pregnancy Center so I can give you some "inside" information. Try to select a CPC that provides free ultrasounds. 90% of women who see their child will not choose abortion, even the most abortion-minded.

"All the flies in your house are wingless, aren't they?" I know this is a serious subject and I pray that someone will intervene in this madness and save the baby's life you are all in my prayers.
But I must say the above line is the most righteous putdown I have ever had the pleasure to read. You are to be commended!

If your parents are pro-life, they should tell her that if she has the abortion, she is not welcome to live with them any longer.
(I must preface this with the acknowledgement that I've never been pregnant, so my situation was certainly never so dire.)
My sophomore year in college (I was 19), I got engaged to a guy who was wrong in just about every way. My parents hated him, and for good reason.
A year into the relationship, my parents and grandparents sat me down and said that I was an adult and could do as I wished, but they wanted me to know three things.
First, if I did marry him the family would not attend or acknowledge it.
Second, what support my family was providing me would be cut off, and I would be entirely self-supporting from then on.
Third, I would be disinherited (which wasn't a consideration for me, frankly).
Tough love sucks and hurts, but it works.

"She is being coerced into having an abortion she doesn't really want. She has said (in other correspondence) that she wants to keep the baby. Her "choice" is being made by the father's parents, who want to be spared the embarassment."Sounds like you know exactly what's going on here. Amanda doesn't realize these people and their boy will dump her in a heartbeat afterwards. Thta's what she needs to see now. She needs to be told to look at that guy, she thinks loves and see what he is telling her to do. He is empty, just an irresponsible lout.

No "headlong rush." I came here after I ran out of ideas, for the purposes I previously stated. It was an act of desperation. I honestly didn't know what else to do.
I dearly love my niece and will continue to do so regardless of what transpires. It is not my intention to "gossip" or exploit her terrible dilemma. I needed ideas quickly, and this was the only place I could think of where I could get quick and compassionate ideas anonymously.

Hopefully, some of this info is helpful to you that Freepers are posting.
Is there any religious figure that she can speak to?
Send her the link to this thread. Maybe she can read this and realize complete strangers are praying for her and care about her welfare and maybe can make an informed decision.

(I'll pray and hope for the best. Sometimes that is all you can do.)
