[history]
President Bush just gave another GLOOOORRIOUS speech in Grand Rapids MI. In talking about Iraq he stated that he "went to the United Nations because I wanted the UN to be something other than an empty debating society". It was priceless.
He also asks citizens to contact their Senators about putting reasonable caps on medical malpractice so "this lawsuit lottery doesn't ruin our health care".
You'll see transcript of speech soon.

When you have one side bellowing about how you behave unilaterally and make the country a world pariah, and the other side is accusing you of engineering a one-world government and selling out the national soveriegnity, you probably are pretty close to the right place.
There's no harm in calling the UN what it is. If I say, "calm down, Inquest, I don't want your head to explode", it does not mean that I think Inquest's head is about to explode. Indeed, it does not even mean that I do not wish that Inquest's head would explode. It just means that he ought to calm down a little.
PS. WRT Heave la France, we should just give them to the Germans and get it over with.

I agree. I think the united nations is as irrelevant as the league of nations because they both contain a fatal flaw... dictatorial regimes as members. They both exist on a false premise that all governments are morally equal, and equally legitimate.
If we must have a world wide forum why not make it a league of democratic nations. I know it is not quite that simple, but all the U.N. does is give legitimacy to tyrannical, outlaw regimes.

President Reagan know when he gets to Heaven and I know he, Harry Truman, Teddy Roosevelt, George Washington and all the other presidents with courage and character will be right beside him in cheering Dubya on.

It was a craven act by a man unbalanced in his political calculations by the weight of frustrated ambition. The best description ofdasshole I've ever read. Hugh's radio show is great, and his writing is even better.
(That quote kinda reminded me of George Bailey, when Potter offered him the payoff job..."frustrated old man who can't get his slimey fingers on the entire town"...(not exact, but close enough).

Series? Thanks for the update momofsixgirls (wow).
Personally, I don't find this to be necessary nor very bright. To me, this crosses the line and jeopardizes the efforts we are undertaking. When the war starts, shortly before it's over and definitely when Sodom is gone...the evidence will be clear to all what Sodom has and what he is he willing to do with it.
This mr. powell took us down the globalist path and now he needs to take a long vacation. Like, the rest of the decade...

And what happens if a day comes when the world unites against America? Global governance needs to be ELIMINATED NOW!

In talking about Iraq he stated that he "went to the United Nations because I wanted the UN to be something other than an empty debating society"."Defunct" is the first word that popped into MY mind.
However, I doubt that's what Dubya intended.
He and I just don't think on the same wavelength.

Put me on your No UN for US list, please.
To: prairiebreeze
Right, but I repeat, what is Bush's objective in confronting the UN in that manner? To try to inspire them to do more? More involvement? Actual international (i.e. one world government)?
