Almost forgot to say what a great text you wrote.
I may not be an American, but I am proud to stand with all of you!

Great TR quotations from 1918, Willie, but not relevant here. Roosevelt spoke at a time when SEDITION laws were enacted and enforced, including upon a Congressman who was stripped of his immunities and hauled off to jail for opposing US intervention in the European War. Granted, the guy was a bloody socialist, and it's kinda hard to justify in retrospect, but that guy's anti-war, non-intervention position reeks of PJB, n'est-ce pas?
Roosevelt was the loudest voice clammering for the War. Also, much of what Roosevelt said in that period was tainted by his hatred for the President. He was pissed at Wilson for refusing him a commission (Roosevelt lost a son there in his stead).
Buchanan shares a greater similarity to the Roosevelt of 1912. Both tried to kill the Republican Party. That TR quotation about the parties was ignorant, wrong, stupid, inflammatory, self-serving, and a lie. That is to say, it was a campaign speech. He lost, and the Republican Party was rebuilt without him, and better for it.

Hello Luis! Bush has my full and confident proxy to conduct my political business and protect my interests. I made that calculation three years ago.

No, I didn't think so.
Funny, Willie didn't have a problem with my posting that to him, but you do.
I must really learn to be more in touch with my nurturing, motherly side like you.

My friend.
I've just read your FR page, and I am encouraged, and moved, by what you wrote there. It's an honor to have you post a response to my thread.
I wanted to write something deep, and insightful, inspired by your story, but there was no need for me to fumble with a sentiment that has already been eloquently expressed by one of your heroes, and mine.
I will say to you that I can think of several hundred people whom I would gladly exchange for one Dutchman with a love for America.
"And now, let me speak directly to the young people and the students here. I wonder yet if you've appreciated how unusual--terribly unusual--this country of ours is?" "I received a letter just before I left office from a man. I don't know why he chose to write it, but I'm glad he did. He wrote that you can go to live in France, but you can't become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Italy, but you can't become a German, an Italian. He went through Turkey, Greece, Japan and other countries. but he said anyone, from any corner of the world, can come to live in the United States and become an American."
"Some may call it mysticism, but I cannot help but feel that there was some divine plan that placed this continent here between the two great oceans to be found by people from any corner of the earth -- people who had an extra ounce of desire for freedom and some extra courage to rise up and lead their families, their relatives, their friends, their nations and come here to eventually make this country."

Thanks!
Reagan was such a good president. He had it all. Most people here in the Netherlands saw him as a cowboy. They thought it was an insult to him.
If Europeans call you a cowboy, it means you are doing things the right way!
