Great, that we don´t join these "let´s insult America"-games after all. And to make sure you´re not exaggerating by bashing Germany, I´m here! ;-)

Hmmmmmmmm....how to bash Germany.....hmmmmmmm....I'm thinking...anything having to do with WWII would be just too darn easy....hmmmmmmm....let's see...anal-retentive...compulsively punctual...German angst...all German movies must have a horrific ending to be meaningful...compulsive law-abiders...no sense of humor...hypochondriacs...take over all the best beaches on holiday with military precision...secretly admire the Mediterranean peoples for their joie de vivre....openly admire the Swiss...
See, my heart just isn't in it...I can't bash Germany with the same gusto as I can bashing France.

My bet is that the German ambassador said the comment totally on his own...and had no direction from Schroeder. Watch for this guy to have to make a quick trip back to Berlin and hear Schroeder scream at him. That's what I was thinking.....

Just an afterthought.........
If our "Allies" were really fair about the Iraq situation, all they would have to do is report the arms they themselves have shipped to Saddam. However, they are hiding the truth. For France,Russia and Germany it is more important to maintain their Cash Cow, Hussein.
We can bankrupt Germany by not buying their products, moving our militaryand keeping the Dollar low(The administration is already doing that part)
I am just tired of those socialist/Communist nations, trying to tell us how to run our business.
As to the totally inept Schroeder..... he is trying to play a grownup game with the world leaders. Just like his "Love fest" with chirac. He will find himself outmaneuvered again (the second time). In the end France, because of the big stake it has in Iraq will agree to action, after being promised to participate in the spoils.
Schroeder, on the other hand will again be isolated. I wonder when the third double cross will occur and what it will be?

Any further information on this from Germany???

You know, geese are very mean. I think the proper comparison would be, say, rabbits. .....
I don't know if I agree.Consider what happened to our Nobel Laureate Carter who was attacked by a killer rabbit!! Those things have great big teeth, you know!

Are you saying that the German UN Ambassador does not report to your PM and can make his own decisions re the Iraqi problem? That's amazing, if true. He and Herr Scroder had better start fast to make amends and get on board as Allies, or they will be out in the cold when the time comes to determine what countries are really our friends.

Those things have great big teeth, you know! At least Brother Maynard has The Holy Hand Grenade.

France??? Never heard of it!!!! Is that the insignificant country that borders Liechtenstein and Andorra? I think I have been to their capital once. They have a huge water tower in the middle of town to flush out their congested sewers

we kept the Russian bear at bay, away from Germany (and France) France was never in danger from the USSR. Liberty, equality, fraternity, etc.

Schroeder had to cave. If he kept up his left-wing stances, it would be 16 more years of Helmut Kohl.

The French weren't always such pussies. Consider Napoleon. Or for that matter Johnny Hallyday, who was at Woodstock way back when, but had the better sense not to climb on the stage and make a fool of himself like the rest of them there!

Has USSR marched west through Fulda Gap and taken West Germany, France would have become an non-entity. The Soviets on their border, their biggest trading partner now behind the iron curtain, France would have simply become an economic disaster. Who would have given them commercial credit?
France would have died on the vine, even without a takeover.

And I'm sure he doesn't/hasn't done drugs! WHAT was he thinking?
I'll bet Carter can come home from Venezuela where he has already stopped the 2 month strike, (oh wait, no he didn't) and go to Iraq and call for free democratic peaceful elections to elect a new leader. That'll show that big ol' meanie Hussein.
Arghh, i'm rambling

No, our Ambassador follows Schröder´s directions. But sometimes he tells us his own opinion (e.g. in that case). Mr. Pleuger is a responsible and reasonable diplomat, Schröder is not. Schröder got four more weeks... in that time (after our state elections on Sunday), I hope he´ll realize what he has to do.
