My bet is that the German ambassador said the comment totally on his own...and had no direction from Schroeder. Watch for this guy to have to make a quick trip back to Berlin and hear Schroeder scream at him.

"You do have to concede to the French their place in military history: As warriors, the French have always made superb pastry chefs. A French war begins with a retreat on Paris, followed by a scream for help, usually American, and four years of peaceful collaboration. They're the only country I know of that has a stack of surrender documents addressed To Whom It May Concern. I've seen fiercer geese." ----Fred Reed (purloined from The Federalist)

The French weren't always such pussies. Consider Napoleon. Then again, Napolean wasn't French was he?

Is this a game?? I was wondering the same thing myself. Is Bush sooo good and clever that he has the world on board to screw with the mind of Iraq??? It sure seems that way after Powell’s and the Blix speeches. It is typical Bush, (Road Runner and Coyote politics).

I don´t know what you´d say if I claimed that for the US... or how I´d react if you claimed that for Germany...

You know, geese are very mean. I think the proper comparison would be, say, rabbits.

Schroeder can take a flying leap off the Eifel Tower - sooner the better.

His party's popularity is lower than any ever recorded since Hitler.

He's a hurtin' turd. So is the French puke.

>>> A French war begins with a retreat on Paris, followed by a scream for help,<<<

The French Government are, as we speak, massing at the Paris train station ready to take the "Chunnel" to England and set up (yet another)government in exile >>>> without a shot having yet been fired.

The French do, however, have magnificent War museums.

Oh, don't take what people say too, too seriously. French-bashing is one of the great American pastimes, because it's so darn easy! It's a big (but casual) sport here in the U.S. (and U.K.), but it's not nearly as big a sport as "Being pissed off and insulted by the Americans" is in France. I think it's France's #1 sport.

French-bashing would be an even bigger sport if Americans paid attention to the French, but ignoring France is part and parcel of what pisses off and insults the French the most.
