Maybe I'm just reading the chart wrong, but the higher numbers are at the bottom, hence what appears as a dip is really a spike.

No, you're reading it upside down. Think of it as a Billboard Top 40 chart. The higher the rank, the more people visit that site. FR is ranked around 1300, while DU is all the way down around 23,000.

As I read it, the chart indicates rank, not number of hits. So the smaller the number, the higher-ranked the site, and the more hits.

When you compare the #7 to the #49, is there any discrepancy for FR's stats? They are different to me.

Well, they're displaying differently, but that's because each chart is using a different y-axis.

I think you are reading the chart wrong.

The lower the better since it is by rank. In the chart I posted, Free Republic is at the top because our rank is lower (better) and growing. Theirs is on the bottom because their rank is much higher (worse), and it had a big dip mid-January.

The worse your rank is, the more prone it is to big zeniths and nadirs since more of your traffic is from fewer people. When they are on more it goes up and when they aren't it goes down.

I read...."I'd nuke him but I think he would like it."....as he'd get a CHARGE out of it. And of course I interpreted that as a CREDIT CARD CHARGE....and hence another donation! Especially with the electrical CHARGE (zot) picture the admin mod posted. I think I'm suffering from post freepathon syndrome (PFS). :-)

I love how the chart graphically portrays the dramatic DU plunge from the Peak of Outrage in early November 2002 (election week) to the blackest depths of the Trench of Despondency in mid-January 2003. The miserable minions of the loony left have since registered a modest recovery bounce, I see.
