ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Federal authorities have obtained the sealed records in the alleged Internet sex sting of former U.N. chief weapons inspector Scott Ritter to review for possible federal charges.
State Supreme Court Justice Joseph Teresi signed an order Thursday requiring police and Albany County prosecutors to provide records and any evidence to the FBI and the U.S. attorney's office.
Federal authorities filed a motion earlier in the week to obtain the records to determine whether federal laws were violated, the Daily Gazette of Schenectady and the Times Union of Albany reported in Saturday editions.
Assistant U.S. Attorney William Pericak refused to comment to the newspapers. A message to his office by The Associated Press was not immediately returned Saturday.
Ritter, 41, a critic of the Bush administration's push toward war with Iraq, acknowledged his June 2001 arrest this week in national television appearances but said he was prohibited from discussing details because the charges had been dismissed and the records sealed.
Ritter has suggested recent news reports about the arrest were an attempt to silence him. He said the publicity has forced him to cancel a recent trip to Baghdad, where he said he would have offered an alternative to military action.
Broadcast reports when he was arrested and recent newspaper reports have indicated Ritter was caught in an Internet sex sting, something he did not admit.
At the time of the arrest, NBC station WNYT-TV of Albany reported that William Scott Ritter Jr. -- Ritter's full name -- was charged with trying to lure an undercover police officer posing as a 16-year-old girl to a restaurant.
WNYT broadcast Ritter's mug shot but did not make the connection to his role as the chief U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq during most of the 1990s.
He was charged with attempted endangerment of a child, a misdemeanor that carries up to 90 days in jail, reports said. The case was adjourned in contemplation of dismissal, meaning that if he stayed out of trouble for six months, the charges would disappear and the file would be sealed.

Thanks, I hate to paint the laft with such a broad brush but after how they ran interference for X42 and his sexual escapades I can'r help it. Clinton's countless indescretions in his marriage, along with credible stories that included accusations of rape and sexual harrassment went mostly ignored by the left, He had numerous sexual encounters in the White House with an intern as well as Mondale's daughter and people like Kathleen Willey and it's poo poo'd as just another VRWC to smear the POTUS. This type of behavior is a serious character flaw IMHO and it's exactly these types of character flaws that find our nuclear secrets being sold for campaign contributions in their desperate attempt to remain in power.
Thank God for the Internet, Radio and Cable News organizations like FOX News and the EIB network, because our concerns and messages are getting heard and the liberal bias is being exposed more and more each and every day.

To ignore the fact that Scott Ritter took it upon himself to use his keyboard and his Internet connection to lure a child into meeting him with the expectations of a sexual encounter is irresponsible and reprehensible. There is no limit on how low the leftist media will go in order to protect the rapist, pedophiles, and sexual predators that make up their ideologyI think it's really deeper than that. Liberal/leftists don't tolerate or ignore such immoral character flaws, they REVERE them. Sexual perversion and exploitation are part and parcel of their cult beliefs, and maybe even the foundation. Their fixation on subjective morality - with their own selfish desires as the hub of their "universe" stems (IMHO) of their rejection and envy of the Supreme Author of the universe.
Even though some of them profess to believe in God, they reject all traditional and absolute standards of right and wrong (except the ones they make up themselves to control others). They try to claim that sexual immorality is not immoral and has no bearing on "public life". I aver the opposite - a man (or woman) who not only indulges repeatedly in sexual immorality but preaches and promotes it is therefore 100% untrustworthy in the rest of their life.

I agree 100%, I just didn't do as good of a job explaining as you did. Kudos

"I added Unless of course its a Republican under the gun!"But Ritter is supposedly registered Republican. It's more like they'll defend anyone who parrots their spew, no matter what party they registered under.

Then he recently switched sides. I know he did a lot of work for the DNC and still runs with the same crowds. If he did switch sides, when did he do this ?

There is nothing amiss with reviewing the records to see if any Federal statutes were violated. That's their job, after all. Corruption in the local prosecutor's office could constitute such an occasion for scrutiny. Not only that but Ritter was a UN Inspector for Iraq. What if there is more to the story of a UN inpector being blackmail/bribed/paid off by the Iraqis is true??
That would explain why the FBI got involved with this getting this case un-sealded

There is a difference between Democrats and The Party of Bill Clinton.
For reasons I will never understand they to this day defend that POS at ANY cost .. including our children

"Not only that but Ritter was a UN Inspector for Iraq. What if there is more to the story of a UN inpector being blackmail/bribed/paid off by the Iraqis is true??"...And if Ritter was being blackmail/bribed/paid to work for Iraq it begs the question : how many others were? How many are RIGHT NOW?
All right, that's TWO questions. Just consider the second a followup.
I need to go to bed before my eyeballs fall out of my head. G'night all.

That is true as well. They would be remiss in their duties if they didn't investigate. (Funny how some here have a knee-jerk reaction to anything relating to the institutions of American self-governance. It gets so tedious at times.)
