Florida Man Arrested On Overdue Library Book Charges
Posted: 9:54 a.m. EST January 24, 2003
A man who had overdue library books was arrested. Kevin Crookman was five years overdue on returning three books to the Clearwater Public Library.
The 27-year-old had ignored a letter sent in 1998 ordering him to appear in court on the charges.
Crook was a passenger in a car pulled over by a Pinellas sheriff's deputy. When his name was run through a computer, it showed he was wanted for failing to show up in court on the overdue library book charge.
Crook spent the night in jail before a judge released him. He faces charges under a 1996 ordinance allowing libraries to prosecute the worst scofflaws in county court, where they face a 500 dollar fine per book.
However, Clearwater officials said they don't intend to pursue the charge against him, meaning it probably will be dismissed.
So what?

Only the most over zealous brain-dead ideologue could oppose publicly supported libraries on philosophical grounds.

To him that stealeth or borroweth and returneth not this book from its owner, let it change into a serpent in his hand and rend him. Let him be struck with palsy, & and all his members blasted. Let him languish in pain crying aloud for mercy, & let there be no surcease to his agony till he sing in dissolution. Let bookwaorms gnaw his entrails in token of the Worm that dieth not, & when at last he goeth to his final punishment, let the flames of Hell consume him forever.
Your government comes from Mars?

Ah yes, Thomas Jefferson. The father of the American public education system, the man that wrote law permitting the castration of sodomites, and the person who just loved the French Revolution. Would that be the same Thomas Jefferson to which you refer?

Who folds a leafe downe ye divel toaste browne, Who makes marke or blotte ye divel roaste hot, Who stealeth thisse booke ye divel shall cooke.
Oh please! What a ridiculous statement. The main problem with libraries is the liberal librarian association and librarians getting rid of the old classic and replacing good books with modern liberal written books. But, thankfully there are still some good ones out there. Homeschoolers make great use of library resources and there is no way our family could afford to buy all the books our children read or use from the library.
We've got plenty of those around here...
LOL!!!
If the Government didn't confiscate 35%+ of your wages through the various taxes and fees, and if the Government didn't tax book publishers to death, you would be able to afford the books.
Thanks for your childish opinion. I have noted it, and discarded it.

A perfect compliment to the brain dead non thinkers in the forum. We have more of them.
The people who recieve the booty from the theft of others property are usually better off. If I stole a dollar from a rich man and gave it to a poor man, the poor man would be a dollar richer, but the act would still remain immoral.
