[history]
Back in July, we noted an article in which Bruce Bawer quoted a Norwegian professor, commenting on the statistic that 65% of rapes in Norway were committed by "non-Western" immigrants, mostly Muslims, as remarking that the victims had it coming. "Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes," the professors said, because Muslims found their manner of dress provocative and "believe that it is women who are responsible for rape."

Rape is against one of the protected groups, women. Thus, it is only excused when it is committed by a member of a group that is higher on the protected-group pecking order, like a Moslem, or an abortion-excusing politician.

This makes me ill. Not long ago, there was an attack in Spain by a bunch of Muslim immigrants on two Spanish women and a man walking on the beach. They stabbed the man and raped one of the women (possibly the other one as well, but I only remember the poor woman whose boyfriend had been stabbed).
Of course, when the people of that town rose up to protest this, they were immediately called "racists" by most of the EU.

When Bill Clinton won a second term, I flirted with the idea of Leaving the US. Now I am glad I never did. Europe was repugnant then, but this makes the EU look unlivable.

I guess the Muslim take on this is that the poor men can't control themselves when confronted with the irresistable sight of feminine beauty.
There's a longstanding, highly effective solution for uncontrollable feral beasts:

because Muslims found their manner of dress provocative and "believe that it is women who are responsible for rape."
Rape is about power, not sex. As long as their religion teaches them that they can't possibly control themselves, then that becomes their rationalization and a justification for behavior which they have little motivation to confront and change.
Personally, (and sadly) I'm not holding my breath about Muslim males becoming that enlightened. Morons

I dont know the specific of this case or the law in Norway but I want to offer a possible alternative explanation. If the Law is such that a mentally handicapped women is considered incapable of giving consent then any sex would be treated as rape by the law. "Overly friendly and polite behavior and a desire to contact strangers" could be code words for she was all over the guy and while recognizing her mental limitations he took advantage of the situation.

While I agree with you it would be hard for me to find a higher protected group then "female-mentally-challenged" but if as you say Muslim trumps that, then WOW!
If this is coming to the US in short order I had better move most of the people in my neighborhood are from the Mideast???

he had only lived 12 years in Norway and so had difficulty understanding the victim's condition. So a 12 year old child would have also have trouble understanding the victim's condition?

The court, after determining that the man was incapable of understanding Norwegian, Norway's laws, manners, or any other element undergirding civilization, allowed him to continue living in the country.
Obviously that undergirded civilization in Norway really isn't worth protecting, eh?!

Rape is a weapon of power. Yes sometimes it can be about sex, but it is a tool of power to completely subjugate women. It has been used by every culture towards it's enemies. African tribes kidnap and rape other tribal women, some slave owners raped slaves, nazis raped jewish women, on and on ad nauseum.
Blaming rape on the female is nothing new in radical islam. I am not surprised about this at all. People shouldn't be surprised to find this thought form in radical islam. It was not so long ago I read that a woman was to be stoned to death for being raped and impregnated by her rapist (in Saudi Arabia or Nigeria not sure).

Or behind bars and chained up for about 50 years until they learn some manners. But I have the feeling that their moon-god cult has left them unable to learn much of anything.

a recent story featured a Pakistani woman (if memory serves---Muslim to be certain) that was gang-raped as punishment for her brothers heinous crime of being seen walking or talking with a woman.
Such backward thinking about what justice is should provide us all the insight we can stand as to why these fools are so difficult to share a planet with.

YES! I remember that story. If the anti-war protesters love that culture so much, maybe they should take their Gen Y Shakira-Brittany Spears-Mariah Carey butt-cutter panty wearing selves over there. Remember the riots in Nigeria when a newspaper article said Mohammed would pick a Miss World contestant? Well.. he was probably right and a lot of people died.

Some years back there were stories coming out of Australia, IIRC, about a new trend developing among young muslim men. They were forming "rape-gangs", and would pick out pretty, white (non-muslim) teenage girls, and then viciously gang rape them and have "parties" to celebrate afterwards. They were clearly racial/religious motivated hate crimes, and the ones that were arrested made no bones about it. Any freepers out there remember anything about these news stories? I remember hearing it discussed on either the BBC or Australian Broadcasting Corporation shortwave services.
