If we look at history and scan all the diverse peoples and times, we find that abortion and infanticide are extremely common and quite acceptable. The Christianized west stands out as the exception, not the rule. The laws against abortion and infanticide in the west are only intelligible as the result of earlier Christianization. Thus, that abortion is currently sliding into mass infanticide is not evidence that the world is sliding into something unheard of..some age of barbarism, rather, its evidence that it is simply returning from being Christianized back into being pagan.

I read an article in the Editorial section of my morning paper this A.M. and haven't been able to get it out of my mind as it is too absurd to believe. Maybe it has been discussed on here today, but I haven't seen it.

The article was by M.D. Harmon and was about the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. The paragraph that has me so disturbed reads as follows-"The culture that accepts abortion also gives a man like Peter Singer an endowed chair at one of the most prestigious schools, Princeton University. There he writes essays for scholarly journals ON THE DESIRABILITY OF LETTING PARENTS KILL THEIR BORN CHILDREN up to six months after delivery!!"

Tell me this isn't so. I can't get this paragraph out of my mind.

The total population of the 50 largest US cities is approximately 44 million. Last week, I typed the name and population of each of these 50 cities on slips of paper for use in my junior high and high school classes.

I passed out the slips to my students, then each one came to the front of the room, read the city and population total and dropped the slip into a can. (I didn't tell them ahead of time what this exercise was about). After all the slips had been read, I told my students that the number of abortions performed in the USA since 1973 nearly equals the total population of the 50 largest US cities.

You should have seen the looks on their faces. It was a very sobering moment for us all.

The enormity of this crime gainst the most innocent, and helpless is beyond comprehension. Yet it is business as usual in the USA. This is very scary, this country, I'm afraid will be held to account in the very near future. Perhaps 9.11.01 was just the overture of the music we will have to face soon.

There's an old statement: "There's lies, damn lies, and statistics."

Not to say there haven't been lots of abortions since 1970 (there have been way too many) - but - on what basis where these statistics compiled? The US Department of Abortions? No.

There is no accurate number. And not all abortions are the same. Consider - about 1/3 of all women miscarry for any given pregnancy. Commonly, when this occurs, the doctor recommends the woman go for a "D & C" (dilatation and curettage.) It can be used as a diagnostic tool, to clean the uterus after a miscarriage and as a form of abortion. Problem. D&C counts toward the abortion statistics. So - how many "abortions" are not abortions, but clean up after a natural miscarriage? Answer - nobody friggen KNOWS! But we do know the "abortion" statistics are "contaminated" by D&C statistics counting as abortions when many of these are post-miscarriage procedures.
