Neither am I. Still, the fact that Venezuela is the third-largest supplier of oil to the United States makes me a tad nervous... Maybe we should drill in Alaska and have it not be the case? In any case just because "we" buy it does not make it ours when it comes out of the ground. It is their oil even when they screw up production and it is theirs to do as they please.

Venezuala is in America's direct sphere of influence even in oldschool isolationist foreign policy. Alaska could repace Saudi oil but we ain't gonna be able to produce everything domestically.

I'm all for drilling in the NWR so we would not have to worry about such external issues. But, until we do, I for one do consider Venezuela's internal issues to be "our business."
