Confirmed, Bolivarian Guards fired on the demonstrators. Opposition and Chavez forces almost started the long-awaited Venezuelan Civil War. The Venezuelan National Guard postponed the war for another day.

I was watching Geraldo last night and he showed some film footage of the demonstators and let me tell you the soldiers took one girl and threw her to the ground so hard you could see she slammed her head on the concrete. I was so horrified!

"I saw one of the protestors the other day on TV holding a sign that said Bush just wanted their oil. Now really, this is Bush's fault, too? (They must get CNN there). Must have been a low IQ peacenik wanna be, for sure. This is not our problem. They'll figure it out without the U.S. becoming their scapegoat."

GEEEEZ!! Who gave him the sign...the Chavez regime?? You're right : Chavez is their problem. They electec him. Let them clean up their own mess.

"Chavez has funded Al-Qaeda and the Taliban after 9/11 to the tune of $1,000,000. That makes Chavez a part of the Axis of Evil, so it becomes America's business."

Did Chavez ever answer that charge, or is he still ignoring it?

I want to see Chvez go down, but if Venexuelan people are ALREADY carrying signs saying that Bush just wants their oil, I don't see why we should put ourselves through more grief. (No doubt it was aome wit in Jimmy's entourage who provided the sign.) We've got Iraq to handle. Every time we go after Saddam, some other region goes nuclear. That tells us we need to go after Saddam.

I would volunteer if they would have an old 64 year grampa to help in taking out Castro and his bastard son, Chavez.

I would join you (except my wife probably wouldn't let me go ;^) ). Seriously though, my wife's father had to do two years hard labor in Castro's labor camps to get his family to Spain. To this day he pines for his Havana. I literally get sick to my stomach when I hear his stories of how Cuba used to be prior to Castro's rise to power.

..Venezuela is just further proof that the US has no "blood for oil" policy. If we truly did, our forces would already be there....

Good point, Kieri!

I'll try that one on a few Sydney lefties and see if it discombobulates 'em.

Last I looked Chavez wasn't the one carrying out armed coups in the middle of the night.

Yeah, actually, he tried to take power by force twice in the early 1990s before the people stupidly elected him. Try doing some research before shooting your mouth off, dingus.

After the Cuban Crisis I got to talk to a lot of the Cuban Workers at Gitmo. I still get tears in my eyes and a vise grip grabbing my stomach just mentioning this as memories of what happened to their friends and families come back.

Then, for a decade on the East Coast, I talked to wonderful Cubans like your father in law who fled the terror of Castro. Castro was and still is one of the most evil men to have ever lived on this earth.

He would have had zero problem in killing as many Americans in 1962 as possible, and he would still kill all of us if he had a chance.

Chavez is his prize South American Student and is as dangerous. Hopefully, he will be eliminated by one of his countrymen who says enough is enough. You will not make my country into the hell Cuba has been for over 40 years.

If not we can handle him later if the link of evidence of financing al Qaeda and potential bio terrorism with Fidel are documented.

If we kill him, we will hear about it for 5 decades. If his own people kill him, it will be over except when the left wing maggots try to bring it up.

And he served his time for a coup that was around 2 decades ago now?. Because he did it then, his opposition can do it now too? So the record stands at 50/50 for both sides in the coup business...And again, why should I care?

Don't presume in the field of foreign affairs I am without knowledge or you know more than me.

What? Tyranny is taking root where free people don't have the right to keep and bear arms? The horror! There must be some mistake here. No national leader would dare deprive the Venezuelan citiziens of their liberties, would he? This could NEVER happen in America! </sarcasm

You made the incorrect claim that Chavez was not the one "carrying out coups in the middle of the night." If you really did know that he had a history of unconstitutional attempts to wrest power from legitimately elected governments, but made that statement anyway, you are being intellectually dishonest for God knows what reason.

Otherwise, just admit that you were wrong and all's forgiven.

"And the socialists in our own country are inhibiting the drilling of oil from our own land. They're siding with the worlds socialists rather than Americas freedom.
"They really think socialism , i.e., the third way, is the utopian way to exist. They really think it is because the government takes care of everything (that includes getting rid of the left wing useless idiots when they've served ther purpose, but the left doesn't know about that part. Socialism has no place for useless eaters.)"

Well said. Needed to be repeated.

Thank you for your kind words about the Cubans. I have never met a group of warmer, harder working, and more morally upstanding people in my life. Almost every Cuban who came here in the 60's and 70's have thrived.

He would have had zero problem in killing as many Americans in 1962 as possible, and he would still kill all of us if he had a chance.

I remember reading on an earlier thread that he was going to do it but a Russian Admiral stopped him.

Lest anyone forget, we owe GW's victory to the Cuban vote. They are the only hispanic group that votes solidly Republican. However, Clinton had started to make inroads. That Elian fiasco put an end to that and the rest as they say is history.
