Articles report dismissed charges

Two newspapers reported over the weekend that former UN weapons inspector and Delmar resident Scott Ritter was arrested for a Class B misdemeanor, but that the details of the case were sealed, after proceedings in Colonie Town Court.

The Schenectady Gazette and the Daily News report that the 41-year-old Ritter was arrested in June of 2001, and as a result of the handling of the case, a veteran Albany County assistant district attorney was fired.

District Attorney Paul Clyne told the Gazette he was quote "shocked and angered" when he learned that Assistant DA Cynthia Preiser had not told him about the case, in apparent violation of office policy, that he be informed about sensitive cases.

The newspapers report that Ritter was given what is called an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal, and entered no pleas in the case in Colonie Town Court, and that all records of the incident were sealed.

Details of the nature of the arrest were also sealed.

Ritter's attorney, Nora Murphy has declined to comment on the case. We attempted to contact Ritter at his house in Delmar.
An individual at his home said Ritter was out of town and would have no comment on the case.

We also attempted to contact former Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Preiser at home, and an individual on the phone told us they had no comment.

The Gazette reports that Ritter said Friday he had no knowledge of the arrest. Ritter has been a prominent commentator on national news networks and here on Capital News 9.

As a former UN weapons inspector in Iraq he has gained prominence recently for his outspoken opposition to Bush Administration policies in Iraq.

In the old days a shamed woman would enter a convent and devote the remainder of her life to God. Maybe Scotty has entered the priesthood.

Maybe Ritter was set up in an Iraqi honeypot sting?

So how about the ADA? Who's investigating her? Because it sure as heck sounds as though someone ought to be...

Ritter has devolved to believing that "the facts" are whatever he has decided they will be. The attorney apparently is more connected with reality, ande thus issues the loud "no comment".

Why do you think it's a woman?

That would explain his about face on Saddam. Perhaps the Iraqi's watched him closely on his visit to that hidious children's prison, and spotted an oddity in his reactions.

Well that's an awfully closeminded way of looking at it. Our diversity is our strength! :-)

Perhaps the Clintons got to him as a fly in W's ointment.

I don't know whether the porn charge is true. Porn is the easiest thing to plant to blackmail. People do not change sides so quickly unless there is a gun trained on them. This stinks like a Clinton operation. Remeber the Lewinsky affair and how many people declined to dance. Those FBI files were worth something and these leftist Stalinist tactics are reemerging.

Did they confiscate Scotties computer. If not, why not. That seems to be the S.O.P. of police in such cases nowadays.

No, I think his taste is for young girls.

"I said to myself when I saw you - I said, 'That's a guy with the most normal-looking face I ever saw in my life'...It's great to see a normal face, because I'm a normal guy. It would be great for two normal guys like us to get together and talk about world events - you know, in a normal sort of way..."

Has anyone else oticed that Scott Ritter has become a physical twin for Michael Moore?

The stories yesterday made it clear that he was busted for attempting a meeting with an underage girl met in a chatroom. The "girl" was actually a vice cop.

We are not talking about porn, but attempted statutory rape, whatever the actual charge was.

Yes. A serious charge. With Scott being such a public figure, I'm surprised that Drudge hasn't picked up on this yet.
