THE REPORTER COVERING THE EVENT SAID SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF: "And we shouldn't leave out the fact that a counterprotest was held this morning at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, where activists gathered to show their support for President Bush and possible military action." A clip was then shown of a man wearing a Vietnam-era USMC combat helmet, stating that while he did not WANT war, he felt military action was the only way to combat past and future attacks on America. A man in the background held up a bumper sticker saying "Blood for Oil." There was no mention of the FreeRepublic.com or MOVEOUT! organizations being the organizers of the antiantiwar event.

Thanks for posting this, sdk7x7. Glad someone noticed there was some opposition to the anti-war unwashed masses.

BUMP to kristinn, FreeTheHostages and to the DC Chapter!

MSNBC must be getting really desperate if they show voices that oppose the MSNBC political agenda.

Just a nitpick - - there really are no "former" Marines, except that small handful which has gone on to somehow disgrace their uniform and their country.

Semper fidelis,

Saw it on Fox just a few minutes ago too. Said the big protest is thinning out now. Looks like its not making a big splash. Pretty dull and lifeless like them. Weren't that many people there. Fox opinion poll said 67% suppport Bush and 23% don't in the U.S. The anti-war protestors are losing the battle. HEH HEH

A woman wrapped in a 'Liberty' blanket battles the cold while Joanne Mel (R) of New Jersey holds a sign during a counter-demonstration in Washington, January 18, 2003. While thousands of anti-war protesters gathered on the National Mall, a counter-demonstration of war veterans, billed as a 'Patriot's Rally' in support of U.S. troops, also began assembling near the Vietnam War memorial. I didn't think there was such a thing as a "Former" Marine?...I thought you were always a Marine...either active or retrired or reserved.

Buses idled with heaters on and protesters occasionally darted inside for a warm spell before rejoining the rally.

This was the no-blood-for-oil-unless-I'm-cold faction, I guess.

Bump to the vets that showed up to fight another day.

My sister-in-law's ex-husband is one of the protesters in DC. Sister in law allowed her 16 year old son to accompany her ex to the protest. This makes me so angry - I have fumed about it all day. Her reasoning is that "he is a minority as he is Hispanic, and minorities should oppose the war", so she let the kid go. How can anyone be so stupid? She's teaching him to have no respect for his president and his country. I have lurked here for years, but I need to vent, so I am posting for the first time.
