France moves to pay for mosques to curb terrorism

Terrorism has made France consider changing one of its fundamental principles of keeping state and religion separate and accept the proposal for the state to fund the building of mosques in the country.
So far the state is not allowed to build places of worship under a 1905 law. President Jacques Chirac recently welcomed leaders of the new nationally elected Muslim Council to reportedly put the suggestion of state funding.
Mr. Chirac told them that in the past he regretted there was no organised dialogue between Muslim representatives and French authorities. He said he hoped the Islam of France and the Muslims of France would achieve the same status-- with equal rights and duties--as all other citizens.
This move is viewed as a bold scheme to create a French version of Islam so as to prevent the country's second biggest religion from falling into the sway of foreign powers, notably Saudi Arabia.
Riyadh has helped the construction of many mosques all over the world, including the golden-dome mosque in Regent Park in London. Its the biggest mosque in Britain.
A spokesman has been quoted, " One cannot be opposed to the foreign financing of places of worship and at the same time do nothing about it." The minister for property and building law explained, " In 1905, the government thought that Catholics were anti-republican and constituted a menace.
" Today, it is Islam which poses this question. It would be unrealistic not to respond to this concern." The police have been keeping an eye on mosques fearing they might provide cover and shelter to terrorists.
At present there are 1600 mosques in France, much less than in the United Kingdom. Most of these mosques are little more than a room. But money from Saudi Arabia and some other Gulf countries have been pouring in for building Islamic centres and mosques. The Grand Mosque in Lyons cost £3 million, most of that money came from Saudi Arabia.

Fearing for lives, Jews in France flee
Increase in anti-Semitic attacks forces thousands to pack up, go to Israel
PARIS -- Jewish parents tell their sons not to wear yarmulkes. A rabbi is stabbed. Elderly women are frisked before entering synagogues -- just in case. As the stresses of being Jewish in France multiply, some feel it safer to hide their religion. Others have decided the only solution is to pack up and leave -- more than twice as many as a year earlier, according to statistics by the Jewish Agency.
The agency, which arranges immigration to Israel, said 2,326 of France's 600,000 Jews left. They were 6.7 percent of the total reaching Israel in 2002, the highest rate since 1972. At that time, French Jews flocked there full of pride at Israel's victory in the 1967 Six Day War. Today, their reasons are different.
In synagogues and at Jewish gatherings, people say they are frightened by a rise in anti-Semitic incidents. Though the government has loudly condemned the attacks, many wonder if France's leaders are committed to fighting anti-Semitism.

Estimates are that 97% + of the French are not Christians. Many were baptized Catholic...and they may go to some weddings or funerals...but that's the extent of their "Christianity." They don't believe or practice the old creeds. This is similar to the rest of Europe. I saw an article in Newsweek a year or so ago, which said that demographers have never seen a people so thoroughly secular, without any formal religion, as the modern European.
Islamic people--mostly Arabs from North Africa, make up something like 15%+ of the population....with a phenomenal growth rate. Where the average French family has less than 2 kids per family, the immigrents average....AVERAGE, 5. This, along with the immigration rate means that less than 30 years, the MAJORITY of the country will be Islamic. Most of these are observant Moslems....therefore Moslems already out-number Christians in France...
Similar statistics exist for the other major European nations. In America, we moan about hispanic immigrents...but at least they have a religion in common with us.

[snip]"it will be a historic tragedy of major proportions if France--and the rest of Europe--succumbs to the dark night of Islam."
It will be a revolution where the conquered people who are in power willing give-up and give-in to the evil power.
Yea, but think about it we let the AIDS plague in without much of a fight -- we just kinda empowered the people who were spreading it.

I know a girl from France that has been in US for 4 years, and working on a graduate degree.
We got into a heated argument one day, after she started complaining about too much religion in the US.
She said over 60% of French are ATHEIST, and most of the rest have no interest in any religion.
She really lit my fuse when she said, " I don't understand why the US can't be like France"
I strated to tell her to just get her fat ass back back
to her stupid country.

"I know a girl from France"
I work next to a Frenchman. He's a jerk -- that's all I can say -- he rants and raves and explodes over nothing. Many foreigners want the US to be more like their own country. This French guy takes it as a personal insult that we won't change to French ways. I know where you are coming from.

Terrorism has made France consider changing one of its fundamental principles of keeping state and religion separate and accept the proposal for the state to fund the building of mosques in the country.A long and dishonorable history of surrender continues. They've found it's comfortable under a boot.

France surrenders again. You gotta admit, they're really good at this surrender thing, continuously finding new and creative ways to capitulate.

The French are delusional. They are giving their country away. Indeed, they are surrendering in advance of the war. A new first for the CESM's.

So now we have Saudi-France the first Islamic republic in Eurostan. And the islamists will finally have their nukes.

Obviously you're dealing with some pretty dumb blondes in burkas out there on the Left Coast. But trust me, most of us Blondies from "flyover country" have a bit more common sense. Currently I live in Germany, and over here I see German women wearing burkas too-- or those Muslim black-and-white checked rag scarves around their necks to display their Leftist sympathies. Me? I just wear a little lapel pin on my coat that shows the US and British flags entwined.

Here on the left coast we do have some Muslims that are loyal and good Americans.

"Now they are just surrendering in their own country"
They have to. No big transport planes to get to the Middle East.
In the Netherlands mosques and islamic organizations are government funded.
A mosque in Rotterdam, one of the biggest in Europe, 6 million dollars. Only 1.8 million was paid by the muslims, the rest by the state.
Saves the Saudis a lot of money.
To: knighthawk
" In the Netherlands mosques and islamic organizations are government funded. "
I didn't know that! Are Christian organizations also funded by the government?
But if the citizens pick where the funds paid in taxes should go -- soon most of the funds will be going to Islamic organizations -- the Muslims will take over.
I am dazed and confused!
