Peterson eyed for link to missing student

Kristin Smart, 19, of Stockton, disappeared May 25, 1996.

San Luis Obispo detectives are looking at Scott Peterson in connection with the disappearance of a college student nearly seven years ago.

Peterson, husband of Laci Peterson, went to Cal Poly at the same time as Kristin Smart, who disappeared May 25, 1996.

They did have a man (fellow student) that Smart was last seen with. He "refused to cooperate" with police....

yes that is true it was FLORES who was last seen with her and who would not cooperate with police. The scent dogs actually let the police to his dorm room.

The investigation has been hampered by the fact that before it was begun Flores was allowed to remove all of his belongs from his dorm room prior to the start of finals without supervision. Since that time Paul has continued to evoke the Fifth Amendment, further hindering the investigation. "

Peterson had known Kristin Smart and neglected to respond to a written request from the police detectives on the case.

Isn't it 7 years a person has to be missing before they can be declared dead?

I'm not sure abut that, but considering 9-11-01, if it is true it can be modified. Thousands of bodies not found but delcared dead. Hate connecting these two stories, but obviously there are circumstances where life insurance can be paid without producing body/ies.

It sounds like Flores has all but admitted he did it. I guess you're right. However, if Smart was his girlfriend, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume she had been in his room before. Wonder if she was breaking up with him or they got into a drunken brawl?

As for Scottie boy, he sure doesn't seem to care much for women.

On another thread yesterday, someone mentioned a Krista....anyne know what that was about??

What I remember was someone named Krista had signed on online guestbook sometime around the 10th of January saying something like this: I sure hope Laci is found safe and sound but it appears Scott had a girlfriend and not to thrilled about the baby.

Remember this was on a board before any of this information came out.

It sure is wierd now to learn of another person with the same name Krista and that she was murdered.

She had a very good reply. It really matters. Divided kids are full of so much sadness and anger. We traveled by air at Christmas to see our dear little granddaughters. Lots of kids traveling alone were on the trip. They ranged from very young kids to a young teenage girl. The teen said she had been doing this since she was 7 or so. She had a step-father, step-siblings, etc. She said she spent a lot of time with her brother-in-law. I thought, Hmmm.

Most of the tragic cases reported in this area include such words as - the mother's boyfriend, the father's live-in girlfriend, the missing father, the custody battle, etc.
I mean very sad crime cases.

MODESTO, Calif. -- Sheriff's officials said Saturday that they are looking at any possible connection between the husband of a missing pregnant woman and the disappearance of a San Luis Obispo woman 1996.

So far, they say they know Scott Peterson attended California Polytechnic University at the same time as Kristin Smart, but have no other information. Peterson's wife, Laci, 27, has been missing since Christmas Eve.

On another thread was an article posted where Scotts father said he gave Scott a car for a hole in one and that Scott had also gone to Arizona State, but came home suddenly and they never did know why.

Maybe the police should start investigating any murders, disapearences in Arizona while he was there.
