Bill Moyers and some hyper-rich pukes don't like the death-tax repeal... a suggestion:
fury at Bill Moyers on PBS | 17jan03 | me

So Bill Moyers and a pack of phenomenally hyper-rich folks don't like the idea of repealing the death-tax. They keep spouting inanities about concentrations of wealth, about how the end of the death tax will create an american aristocracy and a huge sea of penniless serfs. I somewhat suspect that the opposite is true, that the death tax as practiced thus far has done incalculable damage to the working poor and middle classes by ripping the fruits of their generations of effort away from their descendants. Farms DO get foreclosed. Mom&Pop shops DO close down. Family homes DO go on the chopping block. Conversely, the hyper-wealthy have always been able to afford the tax-lawyers and shelters and offshore scams to hoard their wealth and scape the death tax. To Chuck Collins and the Elder Gates... if you are so darned worried about your kids being "overpriveledged", why not just give ALL of your money away to charitable organizations in your Wills? Dumb-asses! Who are you trying to fool?!?

A modest suggestion to the "Resposible Wealth" idiots and liars: Let the death-tax live on in a new form, one which only hammers those who inherit over 100,000,000 2003 US dollars in mixed assets. Leave the rest of us (you know, the poor and hardworking 99.5% of the population) to accumulate family wealth. That, and only that, will "close the wealth gap" that you folks shed such copious crocodile tears bemoaning. end of rant.

Graduated? Can you say "progressive?"

The "progressive" income tax is the second plank of the Communist Manifesto. Wake up America! We have a Marxist tax system!

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels popularized the notion that "From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs" in 1848 and the world soon began to go to Hell in a handbasket.

The concept means, of course, that the more a person works, saves and invests, the higher their tax rate. So in America, we have negative rate taxes (Earned Income Tax Credit), 0%, 10%, 15%, 25%, 33% and 38 1/2% tax rates.

The most evil concept ever conjured up in the insane madness that is "taxation" is the concept of "progressive taxation."

Jolly Good! By all means, let us continue to punish those who contribute the most to our society and reward those who contribute the least!

And then some fool decided it was "unfair" to let a parent pass on to his/her children and grandchildren the fruits of his/her labor, and the government began yet another round of wealth confiscation!

The means to end this pernicious class warfare is to replace the income tax (including estate or "Death" taxes) with a flat rate National Retail Sales Tax and abolish the IRS.

“I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” [Thomas Jefferson, letter to Benjamin Rush, 1800.]

We will never be a truly FRee people so long as we have the income tax and the IRS.

We have a Marxist tax system!

Absolutely we do and I have NEVER been able to figure out WHY!

The United States of America has held itself up, for an entire century, as the world's chief enemy of Communism but yet we have a MARXIST tax system.

WHY????

Gogettum, Bigun!

Short answer: Class warfare drove the US to adopt an income tax, and class warfare is the mechanism that the Marxists among us will use to try and keep it in place.

Long answer: The progressive income tax was slipped into law on the basis of class warfare and class envy. At the end of the 19th Century, The Communist Manifesto was required reading for the effete elite "movers and shakers" in America.

As Rush put it, it was "Getevenwithemism." The "Robber Barons" had made being rich a sin, they were huge targets, and the American Marxists had a relatively easy time of it in garnering support for a "tax on the rich."

Note that it was a tax on the "New Rich," not a tax on the "Old Rich." The "Old Rich" aristocracy were the driving force behind the income tax, and have always been the driving force behind it, because they cannot stand the competition from younger, smarter, harder-working people who want to get rich themselves.

Rather than try to compete with them in the market-place, they conspired to steal money from the "New Rich" via progressive taxation. Still works that way today.

It was a "progressive" income tax, including a marriage penalty, right from the getgo, and of course, has morphed from a relatively simple tax system to the huge, undecipherable, unfair, unintelligible, loophole ridden, social policy driven abomination we have today in only 90 years.

And, all along the way, committed Marxist legislators and their lackeys were intent on forcing the tax system to become more and more "progressive" so as to untax the bottom 1/2 (or more) of the tax payers, knowing full well that at that point, no popular demand could ever be strong enough to go to a fair, single rate system.

Lord help us, we are almost, if not, there today.

That is why we have but so little time to get the NRST into law!
