Iraq: Baghdad would lay down the conditions of an exile of Saddam
Baghdad laid down the conditions of a possible departure in exile of the head of the Iraqi State Saddam Hussein, affirms Friday hebdomaire German DER Spiegel in its edition on line, quoting diplomatic sources in Dubaï and Cairo. A list of claims was given to Arab and Western diplomats, according to the magazine. It includes/understands the departure of the American soldiers of the area of the Gulf, the end of the mission of inspection in disarmament of UNO and the lifting of the sanctions against Iraq. For Baghdad, measures will have moreover to be taken against the production in Israel of weapons of massive destruction, according to DER Spiegel which affirms to hold its information of three diplomats, two Arabs and a Westerner. Lastly, the United States and Europe should commit themselves not continuing Saddam Hussein and its close relations in justice. A possible place of exile could be a African country, adds DER Spiegel, which does not give additional precise details on this point. Iraq vigorously contradicted insistent rumours of negotiations for the departure of its leader, which circulate since last week. (SCG)

How about Saddam and his sons leave in a box. Assuming we can find any pieces. American troops stay in the Gulf and we inspect with a fine tooth comb. All who agree raise their hand. The motion passes.

Ha! Sounds like a Bin Laden terms of conditions to me.

Utterly laughable. And one day after Saddam gave his defiant speech. No inspections? Right. As though. Sheesh!

So much for the exile talk. It was good entertainment, though.

So Sadaam leaves, his son takes over, Sadaam keeps running things from afar, and we're back where we started

No exile. Saddam should be taken or preferably killed. Would Hitler have been allowed to go into exile?

US response should be: Ya know SH, we might go for it if it weren't for all those doubles you have.
And for God's sake don't let Sheryl Crow get wind of this.

So much for the exile talk. It was good entertainment, though.Nah, he's gonna go into exile as soon as anything serious happens (our first bombing run that takes out palaces, etc.) Ol' Saaddam knows the jig is up and bluffing won't work. He's gonna be outta there.
