(Jimmy) Carter touted for a Senate seat
The Hill ^ | 1/15/03 | Open Secrets

Posted on 01/15/2003 8:17:42 PM PST by Jean S

Newly-crowned Nobel Laureate, former president of the United States, former governor of Georgia, and now, the next senator from Georgia?

That’s the rumor about Jimmy Carter circulating around the Peach State after Democratic Sen. Zell Miller’s surprise announcement that he won’t run for reelection next year.

According to Democratic sources, Carter was so offended by the tone of last fall’s Senate campaign in which Republican Saxby Chambliss defeated Democratic Sen. Max Cleland after questioning the patriotism of the quadraplagic Vietnam war hero, that he wants to make sure Democrats don’t lose Miller’s seat.

However, if Cleland, who was Carter’s choice to head the Veterans Administration during his presidency, decides to run again, Carter would not run, according to the sources.

But former White House Jody Powell says he doubts very much that his old boss would make a run for the Senate. “He can accomplish much more right where he is,” said Powell.

Let him run. The RNC can start showing footage of the gas lines, hostages and killer rabbits.

What's with the Democrats? First Lautenberg, then Mondale, now, possibly, Carter. It's like "Jurassic Park" with these guys.

Who's next? Lady Bird Johnson?

What if he runs and wins? Would that be horrible, or just a mild irritant?

What's with all the "bring out your dead" (ressurrected, ancient, decrepit) liberals? Can't they reproduce? Did their serpent hatchery freeze up and kill the clutch? They don't fill seats with new faces but instead keep bringing out gray-haired red daiper babies.

There would be just one positive if Carter were elected to the Senate. Bill and Hillary Clinton would be furious.

Lord love a duck, not another retread? I am beginning to think that all the old liberal has-beens are just going to show up and run for a cameo appearance, before the final curtain closes for them or their party.

Indeed ... he'll do worse than mondale for sure, and has made plenty more embarrassing comments over the years.

Can't they reproduce?

Of course they can't! Abortion is like a sacrament to them.

Pretty telling when you have so many people clammering to run as a democrat that you have to dust off old tired losers. LOL. Add one more to the "nuts and Dolts" of the party list....
