Good for Bush! Though I would go farther -- make affirmative action programs a federal offense as a hate crime against white males.

Thanks..

....(My daughter) has since graduated from 'someplace else' and passed the bar last spring. (Post #64) Congrats to your daughter for having the courage to go forward and fight for a place in law school, in spite of the discrimination she experienced from NOT being a minority.

Thank you Mr. President and thank GOD for stopping the "suffering" minorities from stepping on all the rest of the good students. All races must have the same chance at college.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN (You know who you are!): This thread was positive about the President's remarks and some of you have chosen to once against go at each other about who said what. Please stop the bickering on thread after thread. A lot of us are getting very tired at the distraction of seeing the bickering and the oneupmanship that is going on with so many threads. There is a lot to be done and the President and Republican Senators need our support so please stop the bickering once and for all on these type of threads. If you cannot add something positive or at least constructive comments (including something you disagree with), then please consider saying nothing.

How about explaining to us all how you can -- IN THE SAME WEEK -- call George W. Bush a "commie rat" and then say he's the best president in history?

Thank you very much. She really, really wanted to go to Michigan, too, as they have a superb law school, and she thought for sure that she would be accepted, but we're very proud of her for applying elsewhere, anyway. Funny thing, though, my great-grandmother was a fullblooded spaniard, and my daughter could have put on her application, "hispanic" but refused to do so. For sure she would have been accepted, too. We believe in being accepted by merit, not race. :)

Thanks and well said. It's like a kiddie corral around here at times..... Nanna... nanna... nanna..... Seems some don't know how to ignore people and feel they must respond everytime a post is made, thus it's a never ending cycle.
This was an excellent thread about the President's position on AA but now it's gotten off into he said.. no she said..... and now it's all over the board...
Maybe a little school yard detention would help the situation....

This can't be right. I thought we were told, right here on this forum, that Bush was a liberal and would either not take a stand on this, or would come out in defense of the policy to "pander". Surely those people couldn't have been wrong, again.

Can't we all just get along???

This President will surprise very many very often. He is pretty fearless when his principles are at stake. I respect him more every day.

My apologies if my participation on this thread has been part of the problem. I think part of it is, in part, frustration; a result of MANY posters...for weeks..being attacked and vilified on these threads because we HAVE been positive and supportive of our President.
Ignoring is the best solution, I think.

Oh by the way TLBSHOW, this afternoon on Fox News John Gipson, he and Napoleano (sp?) said that is why GWB had to get rid of Trent Lott. They more or less said GWB had to cover himself for this Michigan decision, so Lott was given up.

Yes indeed, President George W. Bush has a core belief that is ROCK SOLID. Moreover, he has the GUTS to stand by it. Bravo, Mr. President!
