LACI PETERSON UPDATE- 1-14-03
Fox News- On The Record | 1-14-03 | Greta Van Sustern

Posted on 01/15/2003 1:12:22 AM PST by DWar

Van Sustren interviewed 20 year Berkley Bay fisherman Craig Stone. Stone said that nothing about what Scott Peterson did on the fishing trip to Berkley Bay seemed out of the ordinary to him from a fishing viewpoint. The bait was appropriate and available. The sturgeon were available. The boat size was not unusual. The optimal fishing area was not far off shore. The fish are prized but not easily caught. The time of day peterson was fishing was appropriate. It all seemed plausable to him.

Well, a jury said OJ was Not Guilty, but I still have the opinion and belief that he is a killer. I am leaning toward SP being guilty, due totally because of his behavior and lack of an alibi. If the police clear him, I may change my mind. If the police uncover evidence that implicates him, I will believe he is Super Guilty (and I won't wait for a jury to decide to form that opinion).

If he just had a confirmed alibi, I wouldn't question anything else.

Good post, Lanza.

All in all, I'd say we are trying to "understand" the situation, and it isn't making much sense.

So perhaps Scott could help by being more forthcoming and simply take a poly? See, it's those little things that send up red flags. NOT SAYING HE IS GUILTY....CMA here.

Ok...seems like this Modesto-Sacremento area has got a little bit of a problem. Why do I say this? If I go to Northwest Alabama...there is probably one such disappearance every 10 years. People don't disappear like this in the south...unless you live in Atlanta or New Orleans.

On a separate subject. One might come to an idea that Laci had a overcontrolling husband and came to a conclusion one day that she needed to leave before the kid arrived.

OK. I just hate it when I have an opinion...it isn't politically correct.

Anyone out there "speculating" that perhaps there is some strong forensic evidence (blood on tarp..house) which police already know about. i suspect police may be waiting for scott to crack.

Get a life, spectre. Just because I don't agree with YOU, I'm wrong? Is that it? Sorry. I have a right to disagree, just like you do. I'm not trying to be morally superior in any way. I just don't want to say he's guilty unless someone finds evidence that he is. Now, is that a wrong stance to take, spectre? He may well be guilty but I have a perfect right to withhold my judgement of him until he is found to be so.

Now, now. Let's NOT get too enthusiastic about what a polygraph test would show anyone. Although his willingness to just TAKE one might make him SEEM less suspicious the results are highly questionable.
Personally I would NOT want to take one because of my personal belief that the police use them to pressure people into revealing information that could or could not show the implication of guilt.
I would probably retain a lawyer though and just bow to the lawyers decision on this. However, unlike Mr. Peterson I would just depend on a regular defense attorney not one of the highest paid criminal defence attorneys in the area.

Look at this strange story (off-topic, but involves the SF Bay and a fishing trip):

Posted on Thu, Jan. 16, 2003

Two men found in car in Oakland Estuary are indentified
Associated Press

Oakland - -- The bodies of two men found in a car submerged in the Oakland Estuary have been identified.

Tuvara Ginger of Oakland and Carlos Ortiz of San Leandro failed to return from a fishing trip six weeks ago.

Their bodies were found Tuesday in a car submerged off the northern end of Grand Street. That's the point at which the street turns into a boat ramp.

A crane operator dredging the estuary found the red Mitsubishi Mirage. Police say it appears the car wound up in the water by accident.

My, my...hit a nerve?

I've had tougher people than you, not agree with me..but that isn't what this is all about.

What it's about is YOU think that even discussing the possibility that Scott may be guilty, untill proven in a court of law, makes the whole debate useless?!

Course, you are free to add your two cents, give us a few creative ideas where the poor girl might be, but obviously you choose not to engage in speculation.

Personally, I don't give a care WHAT your opinion is, as long as you don't deny me mine, which you are working very hard at doing.

I hope there is strong forensic evidence and hopefullya wagon full of circumstantial evidence....otherwise, I think this poor girl and her yet to be born youngin' will never see justice....but of course, justice will ultimatley be served, right>?

It is unbelievable that no one saw SP at all in his travels to go fishing...why?

and if no one saw him, then did he even go to Berkely?

OK, alexandria..I'll lay off the polygraph gripe.

Besides, his highly paid Defense Attorney probably told him not to take one...grins.

VC, California is an interesting State for websleuths, huh?

Should we form an opinion on the U of Michigan quota system before the Supreme Court does??? Not according to Mary. She'll wait for the decision and go with the flow.

Reminds me of Rush's definition of a moderate. Someone who waits to see what the majority opinion is and then joins the crusade. Mary is a moderate. She'll have NO opinion before its time to quote Gallo wine!

As I told her, I am not a judge sitting in sitting in judgement of SP, nor a juror. I can form any opinion on this case I want,...and so can she. She just loves to chide those of us who do!

I asked her before, tell me who is a BETTER suspect right now than her husband? I mean he HAS to be numero uno on the police hit parade! If he's not, I suppose Gary Con-did-it probably is.

My question is when is her family going to unload on this creep!?? Either the cops have told them to back off, or they have really been suckered by this guy.

Well, Doc, it's a safe bet to simply sit back and not form an opinion. But the reality is, she has one, that being, we really don't know if he did it or not, so we shouldn't "judge"..and that makes us bad people.

Is that what LE is doing? NOOOO! They are saying Scott hasn't been ruled OUT as a suspect. It takes guts to give an opinion or speculation that risks being wrong. Easy to say, "well, we don't know anything, so we should just mind our own business till it's proven in a court of law"...barf.

Laci's parents should be getting over the horror of their daughter's disappearance and start to look at Scott cross-eyed, very soon. BUT sometimes it takes years, like the case I saw on 48 hours last night.

us high density living folks need to watch out.

I always say that acts of violence are going up only because there are more people.... the more people there are, the more likely some of them are to raise their kids poorly, or are just plain crazy, etc.
