Sen. Clinton joins Armed Forces committee (BEAST ALERT!)

Washington-AP) -- Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will join the Senate Committee on Armed Forces.

Clinton, who has already been a member of the Budget and Environment committees, joins the Armed Forces Committee at a time when the United States military faces a possible war with Iraq, a nuclear standoff with North Korea, and the ongoing threat from al Qaida.

The committee's jurisdiction includes all the national security programs at the Department of Defense, as well as the nuclear programs at the Department of Energy.

She is the first New York senator to serve on the committee since it was formed in 1947.

Clinton said now she ``will be better able to support New York's military bases and ensure that New York's defense industry continues to play a significant role in fulfilling the needs of our armed forces.''

New York State is home to a number of important installations, including the military academy at West Point and Fort Drum, where the 10th Mountain Division trains.

Yes, I wonder. (My husband still won't watch a jane fonda movie.) I still think carville had something to do with the votes in 2000--and no uproar, no "every vote must count" from the dems for THESE votes. It won't be long til they start spitting on the Military again at airports, etc. Back to the dark ages of the sixties, I'm afraid.

Might just as well shut them down now. They're as good as worthless. Save the taxpayers money - lock the doors now and get it over with. She'll have them training for aid to Al Quata.

I wonder how much China has offered Hillary for information this time.

I'm not sure what you and Card4 think that the GOP senators can do about who the Rats appoint to the various committees. Each party chooses who will represent them on each committee.

The reason why Card4 got the brush-off is because there is nothing that can be done.

"Daschle has full authority over her appointment."

My husband and I are horrified about this. Could someone please explain to us how she, as a junior-senator, with no military expierience, was able to get herself on this committee? What qualifications does she have? Who else is on the committee? What type of safeguards (if any) do we have against her doing some real damage?

Okay, here's how this is going to work: She's already got 2/3 of the NYC newspapers (Times and Daily News) in her ample back pocket, and while the NY Post editorially can't stand her, their reporters, especially Vincent Morris who does the bulk of the reporting on her, seem to share the awe of the other two newspapers. You can read a example of this from Wednesday's Post story that elaborates on her appointment to the committee. Tough NY newspapers come up miserably short again.

Pork barrel loving New Yorkers will be behind her for funneling money to the state. Where the damage from her being on this particular committee is going come from is the same as when her husband was President and the police organizations stood behind him at photo-ops: military contractors, a few veterans and military organizations (I have no idea which ones before you ask) and similar will stand by her for photo-ops after she does a Moynihan/D'Amato routine and forces the Pentagon to prop up some NY company. The message will be that she's there for military people, the same as the message was sent by those police organizations that Bill Klintoon was for law enforcement.

With that going for her, the Washington media will then build her up even more than they're already doing as the RATS' rising and powerful star, and point out how she won over NY, going from supposed carpetbagger to its most important and loudest voice in Washington. They'll dub her the Irresistible Force just as they dubbed him the Comeback Kid.

It's happening before our eyes, just as many of us have been saying. And that's why we keep saying it because we know that the country is really not on to the Clintons as many around here think. If the country were, she'd be in shackles, flushing the toilet in her cell to send morse code messages to fellow inmate Susan McDougal, while America's first black President would be putting ice on his latest split lip after a conjugal cell visit from one of his former constituents.

Simple . . . We promise not to appoint Ann Coulter to the Supreme Court if they promise not to put Hitlery on Armed Services. C'mon, there's nothing we can do? There are things rats want that we can give them that involve little or no pain and suffering on our part. Conversely, there are things we can shove down their throat if they don't cooperate with us. We are a majority now.

It sure is obvious she's trying to build up credentials for her run for the Presidency. There are some serious questions as to how she gets this position with being a Senator for only 2 yrs. and her only elected office. That right there is enough to discredit her and it is ludicrous, but Demonrats have always been pathetic with regards to our national security and they show how they put themselves ahead of this country repeatedly.
